Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has urged his teammates to embrace the pressure of playing for the club.
He encourages them to fight their way out of their current struggles, echoing manager Ruben Amorim’s harsh assessment.
Recall Amorim caused a stir last week by labeling the current squad as “the worst side in the club’s history” following their 3-1 defeat to Brighton.
Although the manager later softened his comments, Fernandes agreed with the sentiment and emphasized the need for resilience.
“The reality is, to play here you have to have that pressure, you have to have the balls to play for this club,” Fernandes stated.
“Unfortunately, this season has been full of ups and downs. Every time we seem to recover, we get knocked down again. But the key is to get back up and fight.”
Fernandes himself showed that fighting spirit during United’s dramatic Europa League victory over Rangers, scoring a last-minute winner.
He revealed that Amorim’s comments motivated him and the squad to respond on the pitch.
“I don’t want to hear my manager say things like that, but when he includes himself in the criticism, no one can complain.
“He was talking about our position in the league, and he’s right — it’s unacceptable for this club to be where we are.”
