Promoted Holstein Kiel pulled off a remarkable 2-2 draw against reigning Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Kiel came back from 2-0 down within the first eight minutes.

Leverkusen started strong, with Victor Boniface scoring in the 4th minute, slotting home after a clever pass from Exequiel Palacios.

Palacios then set up Jonas Hofmann for a second goal just four minutes later, putting Leverkusen in control.

However, Kiel fought back. Max Geschwill’s header just before half-time cut the deficit.

Fiete Arp equalized in the 69th minute from the penalty spot after Jeremie Frimpong fouled Armin Gigović.

Despite late pressure from both sides, the match ended in a hard-earned point for Kiel, marking a memorable result for the Bundesliga newcomers.
