Job title: Board of Governors

Company: University of Bedfordshire

Job description: An opportunity to join the board of governors

Would you like to make a difference by helping to expand educational opportunities for all by supporting the University of Bedfordshire to realise its vision to be a leading university for expanding higher education opportunities: inspiring our diverse student body to achieve ambitious goals and broadening understanding and horizons across the communities we engage.

A number of independent governors will soon be completing their term of office and the University is seeking to appoint up to four new independent members to our Board. Independent members support the development of the University, overseeing its strategy and long-term future. Using your skills, experience and a broader perspective you could help the University to fulfil its mission. In return you will have an opportunity to develop your professional profile and networks, working alongside a supportive team of your fellow governors and staff.

The current members of the Board contribute a wide variety of skills and experience to the University, and are leaders in their own fields. The University is seeking a diverse range of skills derived from a range of occupations and professions and sectors (public and private), and from candidates at different points in their careers. We would welcome interest from those with backgrounds in Estates and Facilities, EDI, HR, Legal, and post 16 education.

Do not let our list define you, if you have the skills, drive and motivation to help the University succeed we would like to hear from you. We are an organisation that values diversity and inclusivity and the benefits they bring to our University. We are keen to diversify the membership of the Board and applications from women, those with BME backgrounds, with declared disabilities, and LBGTQ candidates will be warmly received.

The role of Governor is likely to require a minimum time commitment of around fifteen days a year. This is a voluntary position. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed, which could include cover should you have caring responsibilities.
