Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is to plan, develop, and monitor a variety of behavioral support service delivery options to meet the needs of clients in their homes, communities, and schools. The BCBA also consults with and teaches instructional team members regarding educational programming and behavioral supports; conducts various descriptive and systematic behavioral and skill based assessments; develops and implements comprehensive treatment plans; provides supervision to behavior technicians and those seeking BCBA certification; monitors treatment progress through data-based progress monitoring; and collaborates with team members, related service providers, families, and other agencies as appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use appropriate assessment instruments and data to develop and implement teaching programs that reflect behavioral and other outcomes and objectives identified by the client’s team (school team and/or family team).
  • Ensure the implementation of treatment plans, document contacts and observations, use professional knowledge and independent judgment to strategize continuous improvements.
  • Provide direct behavioral services to clients, when required.
  • Provide training and supervision to behavior technicians, parents, teachers and instructional aides through observations, meetings, performance coaching and other methods.
  • Establish and maintain data measurement, collection, and analysis systems for clients receiving behavioral interventions. Maintain appropriate documentation and prepare and complete reports as required.
  • Ensure that all treatment plans and programs comply with contract requirements, satisfy all relevant insurance certification and other expectations, and meet or exceed professional standards. Maintain highly organized, consistent, thorough, and systematic record keeping practices.
  • Communicate client progress to families, teams, and the directors.
  • Maintain respect and confidentiality for all clients.
  • Maintain and protect the well-being of all clients during sessions and when emergency crisis situations arise.
  • Promote positive public relations, facilitate interagency collaboration, and advocate for the establishment and maintenance of comprehensive services.
  • Participate in professional growth activities such as conferences, classes, reviewing scholarly publications, participating in professional organizations and team meetings.
  • Accept all other responsibilities as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Additional certification as a special educator, general educator, counselor, social worker, or psychologist preferred.
  • Maintain status as a Certified Ohio Behavior Analyst (COBA).
  • A Master’s degree in special education, psychology, or a related field with specialized knowledge of childhood development, behavioral health and treatment philosophies and professional practices.
  • A minimum of 2 years of recent experience working with children, adolescents, and/or adults with exceptional needs.
  • Knowledge of current methods and techniques of Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Competence in analyzing assessment results, designing appropriate individualized treatment plans and behavioral programs, and progress monitoring.
  • Knowledge and experience conducting a wide variety of behavior analytic assessments including FBA, FA, VB-MAPP, EFL, PEAK, AFLS, etc. Openness and motivation to seek out training in varied ABA assessments.
  • Experience developing positive behavior support plans and programs to include teaching social interaction and play skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively as a team member, demonstrate flexibility and desire to learn new skills and improve professional qualifications, and travel independently in rural/remote locations.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Respond quickly to crisis situations and be able to handle aggressive and self-injurious behaviors of clients.
  • Be able to supervise, provide feedback, and complete program modifications for a client within the treatment session.
  • Ability to problem-solve and assist in decision-making, including during emergencies.
  • Work productively to develop relationships with individuals, families, and varied providers.
  • Ability to think out of the box and creatively.
  • Maintain a high level of organization for file maintenance to include daily, weekly and monthly record keeping.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and quickly respond to children or aggressive behavior.
  • Ability to work at a variety of work sites is required.

Availability: M, W, F – 8am-4:30pm. T & Th – 8am – 6:30pm (40 hours/week)

Pay: $64,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
