The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed that Benue, Borno, and Adamawa recorded the highest petrol prices in November 2024.
According to the NBS Petrol Price Watch report released on Thursday in Abuja, the average retail price of petrol nationwide rose from ₦648.93 per litre in November 2023 to ₦1,214.17 in November 2024, representing an 87.10% increase year-on-year.
When compared to the previous month, the average price increased by 2.48% from ₦1,184.83 in October 2024.
In terms of state-by-state analysis, Benue recorded the highest average retail price of petrol at ₦1,365.16 per litre, followed by Borno at ₦1,331.94 and Adamawa at ₦1,319.85.
Conversely, Lagos, Katsina, and Kano reported the lowest prices, at ₦1,092.79, ₦1,121.25, and ₦1,152.86 per litre, respectively.
Regional analysis showed the South-East Zone had the highest average petrol price at ₦1,257.72, while the South-West Zone recorded the lowest at ₦1,153.94 per litre.
The NBS report also provided insights into diesel prices, revealing that the average retail price per litre increased to ₦1,446.83 in November 2024, up from ₦1,055.57 in November 2023, a 37.07% rise year-on-year. On a month-to-month basis, diesel prices rose by 0.38% from ₦1,441.28 in October 2024.
Bauchi State reported the highest diesel price in November at ₦2,232.04 per litre, followed by Gombe at ₦1,770.59 and Borno at ₦1,751.15. The lowest prices were recorded in Oyo at ₦1,250.71, Ogun at ₦1,258.08, and Lagos at ₦1,262.38.
By zones, the North-East recorded the highest diesel price at ₦1,676.11 per litre, while the South-West reported the lowest at ₦1,303.61 per litre.
