Bayern Munich’s title charge has taken a major hit with the news that star midfielder Jamal Musiala will be sidelined for up to eight weeks.

This follows a hamstring tear sustained during their 3-1 win over Augsburg, per Sky Germany.

Musiala, who had just equalised in the match, was forced off in the 54th minute with what initially appeared to be a pulled muscle.

Scans have since confirmed a more serious injury, ruling him out for the remainder of the Bundesliga season.

The 21-year-old now sets his sights on returning in time for the UEFA Champions League final, should Bayern reach it and the Nations League finals in June.

In the short term, however, his absence adds to a mounting injury crisis for Vincent Kompany’s side.

Musiala becomes the fourth key Bayern player to be ruled out in recent weeks, joining Alphonso Davies (torn ligament), Dayot Upamecano (knee), and Hiroki Ito (foot) on the sidelines.

With critical league fixtures against Borussia Dortmund, Mainz, RB Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach looming, Bayern are clearly vulnerable.
