Barcelona have advanced to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League with a 5-3 aggregate victory over Borussia Dortmund.

This is despite losing 3-1 in the second leg of their quarter-final clash at Signal Iduna Park.

Dortmund opened the scoring in the 11th minute after Pascal Gross was brought down in the box by Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Serhou Guirassy converted the penalty with a Panenka to reduce the aggregate deficit.

Guirassy added a second shortly after the break, heading in from close range to make it 4-2 on aggregate.

Dortmund appeared to be in control and pushing for more, but Barcelona responded against the run of play.

A cross from Fermin Lopez deflected off Dortmund defender Ramy Bensebaini and into his own net, restoring Barcelona’s two-goal cushion.

Guirassy completed his hat-trick in the 75th minute, capitalising on a defensive error from Ronald Araujo.

The goal made it 3-1 on the night and 5-3 on aggregate, while also putting Guirassy at the top of the Champions League scoring chart this season.

Despite Dortmund’s late push, Barcelona maintained their composure and held on to secure a place in the last four.

The result means the Spanish side will face either Bayern Munich or Inter Milan in the semi-finals, with the second leg of that tie scheduled for Wednesday.

Barcelona are through to their first Champions League semi-final since 2019 under new head coach Hansi Flick.
