Barcelona have reached an agreement with Robert Lewandowski over a contract extension, keeping the Polish striker longer than initially planned.

Lewandowski, currently enjoying a resurgence under Hansi Flick, has been in good form this season.

He leads the La Liga Pichichi race with a three-goal advantage over Kylian Mbappe and has scored 31 goals with three assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.

Despite speculation about Barcelona searching for his replacement, MD reports that club officials, including Sporting Director Deco, President Joan Laporta, and manager Hansi Flick, all agreed to extend his stay.

The extension was expected, as his contract included a clause that automatically renews until 2026 if he plays at least 45 minutes in half of Barcelona’s games this season.

Lewandowski has turned down lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia, reaffirming his commitment to staying at the top level with Barcelona.

However, Barcelona are actively scouting for his long-term successor.

Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres have been linked with the club, with the latter seen as a cheaper option at €65m.
