Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams have finally landed safely back on Earth after a nine-month wait.
Their initial eight-day mission to the International Space Station (ISS) took an unexpected turn when the Boeing Starliner spaceship they were on experienced engine glitches, forcing them to stay behind while awaiting a rescue mission.
The two astronauts, along with fellow NASA crewmate Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov, splashed down safely off the Gulf Coast of Florida on Tuesday evening, March 18, 2025.
They traveled back to Earth aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule, marking the end of a remarkable and extended stay in space.
During their prolonged stay, Williams and Wilmore kept busy, participating in over 150 scientific experiments and even undergoing spacewalks.
Despite the challenges, they expressed gratitude for the experience and the opportunity to contribute to space research.
