<p><b>Job Summary</b></p>
<p> The Assistant Track Supervisor is responsible for leading the operations of an assigned territory that involves track inspection and repairs. The role oversees replacing rails, ties, switches, and ballasts. In addition, the position provides daily support to the Track Supervisor.</p>
<p><b>Main Responsibilities</b></p>
<p> · Lead engineering operations as outlined in CN&#8217;s operating plan</p>
<p> · Supervise and lead activities of track gangs, track employees, and hi-rail operations</p>
<p> · Handle engineering operations which include compliance with safe work procedures, Transport Canada guidelines, and CN standards, policies, and regulations</p>
<p> · Lead people with clear direction and goals while providing coaching and guidance to employees through regular performance monitoring</p>
<p> · Apply collective agreement and company policies by conducting investigations, recommending corrective actions, and responding to grievances</p>
<p> · Oversee budgets and workforce productivity within CN policies and the Five Guiding Principles</p>
<p> · Ensure clear communication of track condition and daily production information to senior management in order to adjust</p>
<p> · Ensure the safety of the track through regulatory inspections and input findings into the Track Inspection System (TIS) to monitor track condition</p>
<p> · Follow up on reported track issues to ensure they maintain compliance with standards</p>
<p> · Participate in activities related to derailments and disruptions in service, while working with Transportation and Mechanical to establish cause and future prevention</p>
<p> · Perform safety audits for the unionized workforce and conduct safety engagements</p>
<p> · Plan, schedule and perform track repairs and maintenance</p>
<p> · Respond to emergencies</p>
<p><b>Working Conditions</b></p>
<p> The role will be partially performed in an office environment and outdoors in various types of weather and environmental conditions with irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The role requires regular travel (up to 50%) across their assigned territory at times without advance notice. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and stress. The position requires responding to unexpected and emergency situations, and being able to lift up to 70 lbs.</p>

<p><b>Experience</b></p>
<p> Safety Compliance</p>
<p> · Between 3 to 5 years of experience in safety compliance</p>
<p> o Experience in troubleshooting and problem solving</p>
<p> o Relevant work experience in similar working conditions or in a regulatory or safety environment*</p>
<p> o Budget management experience*</p>
<p> o Labour Relations experience (i.e., interpretation of collective agreements, response to grievances, negotiations with union representatives, discipline, etc.)*</p>
<p> o Experience supervising a unionized workforce*</p>
<p> *Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset</p>
<p> Education/Certification/Designation</p>
<p> · High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)</p>
<p> · Bachelor&#8217;s Degree*</p>
<p> · Valid Driver&#8217;s Licence</p>
<p> · Certified in Railroad Operating Signals*</p>
