All 22 governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
This major endorsement was announced by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), during the APC National Summit held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, on Thursday. The event, themed “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far”, drew key figures from across the country’s political landscape.
Governor Uzodimma formally moved the motion for Tinubu’s adoption, which was immediately seconded by the PGF Vice Chairman and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State. The motion received overwhelming support through a voice vote, followed by a standing ovation from participants.
Dignitaries at the summit included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, serving and former governors, members of the National Assembly, and APC delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The endorsement ascertains President Tinubu’s position as the APC’s clear front-runner for 2027 and comes just five days after a similar declaration of support by the party’s Northwest faction, further showing an emerging intra-party consensus around his re-election bid.
