Trent Alexander-Arnold will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2024/25 season, bringing a two-decade association with the club to a close.
The Athletic reports that the 26-year-old is poised to sign a six-year contract with Real Madrid as a free agent, marking one of the most high-profile Bosman moves in recent years.
Madrid have long targeted the England international as a key defensive reinforcement, and with Dani Carvajal aging and struggling with injuries, the timing aligns with their long-term planning.
Sources close to the negotiations suggest the deal is in its final stages and will be completed shortly.
Alexander-Arnold’s decision comes despite Liverpool’s efforts to retain him. While the club secured contract extensions for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, negotiations with the vice-captain failed to yield an agreement.
New sporting director Richard Hughes was tasked with resolving his future, but Madrid’s offer, sporting and financial, proved decisive.
In a heartfelt message, Alexander-Arnold said:

During his time at Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold made 352 appearances, scored 23 goals, and registered 92 assists.
