Alex Iwobi was on target as Liverpool’s Premier League title charge suffered a major hit as they were beaten 3-2 by Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

Arne Slot’s side had the chance to open up a 14-point lead over Arsenal but failed to capitalise, slipping to defeat after a string of defensive errors in the first half.

Despite taking an early lead through a stunning strike from Alexis Mac Allister, Liverpool found themselves trailing 3-1 at the break.

Goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz punished the visitors’ lapses in concentration and shaky defensive positioning, with Andy Robertson and Curtis Jones particularly at fault.

Slot made changes in the second half, introducing Conor Bradley and Luis Diaz, which brought renewed energy.

The pair combined to reduce the deficit, with Diaz converting to make it 3-2. However, despite late pressure, Liverpool could not find an equaliser.

The result sees Liverpool’s cushion at the top shrink, giving fresh hope to chasing sides in the title race.
