Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr are targeting Liverpool winger Luis Diaz as a potential marquee signing after Al Ahli stepped up their pursuit of Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr.

According to talkSPORT, Al Ahli are reportedly preparing a world-record €350 million (£303 million) bid for Vinicius, eclipsing the £200 million spent by Paris Saint-Germain on Neymar in 2017.

However, should that deal materialise, it would shut the door on Al Nassr’s hopes of pairing Cristiano Ronaldo with the Brazilian forward, prompting them to consider alternatives.

Diaz, who has been in top form for Liverpool this season with 15 goals and five assists, has emerged as Al Nassr’s prime alternative.

The 27-year-old joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 for £37.5 million and is currently under contract until 2027.

With his deal set to enter its final two years, Liverpool may be forced to make a decision on his future soon to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer later.

The Saudi club has shown its financial strength with previous deals, including the £64 million signing of Diaz’s Colombian teammate Jhon Duran from Aston Villa in January.

Given the spending power of the Saudi league, a substantial offer could put pressure on Liverpool’s hierarchy to negotiate.

While Diaz remains committed to Liverpool, the financial lure and the chance to play alongside Ronaldo could sway his decision if a formal approach is made.
