Popular Nigerian activist Harrison Gwamnishu has provided an update on the ongoing case involving a Nigerian returnee who lost ₦150 million from his UBA bank account under suspicious circumstances.
According to Gwamnishu, the United Bank for Africa (UBA) has now reached out, promising to address the matter.
The case went viral after a video surfaced showing the victim, a yet-to-be-named man, detailing how ₦150 million mysteriously vanished from his account in 2023.
The man alleged that UBA claimed the funds were disbursed following reports of his death. In reality, he is alive and has returned to Nigeria to recover his funds.
In a recent Instagram post, Gwamnishu shared the man’s story, revealing that not only was a death certificate fraudulently obtained in the victim’s name, but a court probate order was also secured to facilitate the withdrawal. The man said UBA repeatedly sent him from branch to branch without resolving the issue or reimbursing the stolen funds.
The activist further noted that the names provided by the bank as recipients of the funds were unknown to the victim. He called on the public to tag the Central Bank of Nigeria and UBA on social media to demand accountability.
He captioned the video, “THE MAN THEY DECLARED DEAD IN THE BANK AND WIPED OUT OVER ONE HUNDRED MILLION NAIRA.
UBA bank reached out and they assured they are on his matter. It will interest you to know that before the money was awarded to unknown recipients, they obtained a Death certificate of a living being and went to probate at the high court to obtain a court order.
