Zinedine Zidane has reportedly declined a staggering €100 million one-year coaching offer from Saudi Arabia, according to L’Équipe, as he keeps sight on the France national team role.
Despite intense efforts from Saudi football authorities to lure the former Real Madrid boss back into management, Zidane remains committed to his long-held ambition of leading Les Bleus.
He is seen as the frontrunner to succeed Didier Deschamps, who is expected to step down after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Zidane, a World Cup winner as a player in 1998 and a three-time Champions League winner as a coach, has been inactive on the sidelines since departing Real Madrid for a second time in 2021.
Despite offers from several European clubs, including a previous approach to replace Marcelino at Marseille, Zidane has opted to wait for the France job.
His potential appointment has already received public backing from captain Kylian Mbappé, who said, “I no longer have to prove my love for [Zinedine] Zidane. If he arrives [France national team], it would be a great pleasure. I’d be extremely happy but it is not my decision.”
