Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has expressed frustration over the club’s long-standing trophy drought.
The World Cup-winning Argentine, who has achieved international success with Argentina, including Copa America titles, is desperate to help Villa end their barren run, which dates back to the 1996 League Cup.
Speaking before Villa’s FA Cup third-round win over West Ham, Martinez stated:
“I want silverware for the club.
“I want a cup run and was very frustrated to be knocked out by Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.
“The fans deserve to be at Wembley at the end of the season. It’s something that has been missing for the club for many years. I know the joy it brings to the fans and myself.”
Villa’s last FA Cup title was in 1957, and Martinez, 32, is determined to change that.
