A Nigerian woman has vowed to put only her name on her child‘s birth certificate if her husband fails to cover her hospital fees during delivery.
She made this statement in a Facebook post, sparking widespread reactions online.


In the post, she shared her intentions ahead of any plans to have a child, explaining, “If I carry belle and pay the hospital bill, the birth certificate no fit carry the man’s name. I’ll put only my name there.”
She continued, “I can’t even imagine a woman carrying a pregnancy, going through labor, and then paying her hospital bill after childbirth. As how? Wetin be the man’s job? Ewwww. God forbid.”
The woman further supported her statement by emphasizing the difficulty of pregnancy and labor pain, stating these were reasons she would make the decision to put only her name on the birth certificate if her husband couldn’t afford the medical bills.
“I go suffer for pregnancy from one to nine months, suffer labor pain or CS, still pay for my own hospital bill. Na ment be that one??”
