Our Vancouver, BC office looking to add a new E.I.T to our Waste Management Team, one of our fastest growing Canadian Operations. You would join our North American solid waste group of 80 professionals. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Assist the project managers in delivering waste management projects including detailed design and construction contract administration of transfer stations, composting facilities, and landfills in rural and remote communities.
- Coordinate with First Nation clients on implementing waste, recycling, and compost programs.
- Coordinate with contractors during the construction phase of solid waste projects including review and issuing of change orders, submittals, requests for Information, progress payments and other contract documents.
- Conduct construction inspections and chair construction progress meetings
- Contribute to the design of anaerobic digestion, renewable natural gas, and advanced thermal conversion facilities as well as completing landfill gas generation assessment.
- Coordinate technical resources and personnel including drafters, 3D designers, GIS and database technicians, electrical engineers, structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, biologists, and planners to complete waste management facility designs and plans
- Aid in preparing proposals, technical reports, design drawings & specifications, and construction contracts.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and invoices throughout the feasibility, design and construction phases of the project.
- Effectively communicate with existing and prospective clients
- Complete quantity take-offs and cost estimates
- Complete regulatory conformance reviews
- Develop studies and designs to support permitting applications under the direction of a senior solid waste engineer
- Carry out environmental field work such as groundwater, soil gas, surface water, soil sampling, air monitoring, odour monitoring, and landfill gas well balancing
What you will bring to this role:
- Civil, Environmental, or similar engineering degree, eligible for E.I.T. registration in BC (new graduate to 2 years of experience)
- Eligible and working towards professional engineering certification
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with driving record in good standing
- Willingness and ability for overnight travel and to conduct field work, as required
- Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Self-motivated and able to balance multiple tasks/deadlines.
- Strong desire to work as a team player with GHD staff, subcontractors and agencies
- Strong technical writing (memos, letters, technical reports) and an aptitude for understanding engineering specifications, operation and maintenance manuals and reports.
- Knowledge of the Western Canada waste management regulatory regime

Salary Range: $65,000 to $75,000
Expected salary: $65000 – 75000 per year
