Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Grade 7 Vetting Medical Advisor working for UKSV. The purpose of this role is to provide accurate written and verbal medical advice in respect of vetting applications. The role is office based with no clinical contact with those applying through the vetting process.
Job description
Your responsibilities will include:
- To provide an assessment and recommendation on medical conditions to UKSV operational staff.
- To provide the operational teams with sufficient detail to allow a considered decision to be reached when considering a vetting applicants suitability to hold a security clearance; provide a written Vetting Medical Assessment for inclusion in the medical case file on the Vetting IT system.
- To conduct case conferences with Decision Makers on more complex and challenging cases.
- To help shape best practice and policy; working with other government security organisations involved in the Vetting Process alongside educating and training of other members of UKSV by presenting formal lectures and sharing knowledge of medical conditions with colleagues.
- Conduct awareness sessions on medical issues relating to National Security Vetting to the customer organisations of UKSV at meetings in person and online.
- The Vetting Medical Advisor will join a dedicated team within UKSV that handles all Vetting Medical Risk, alongside four other Vetting Medical Advisors that support the business.
- The successful candidate will support operational delivery by demonstrating and understanding key performance indicators and business pressures.
- The successful candidate will need to engage in annual GMC appraisal and re-validation and hold a licence to practice.
