<p>Aliyu Audu, a Senior Special Assistant to <a target="_blank" href="http://gistreel.com/tag/tinubu"><strong>President Bola Tinubu</strong></a> on Public Affairs, has resigned from his position, citing deep concerns over the growing defection of politicians to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and warning that Nigeria is on the brink of becoming a one-party state.</p>
<p>Audu submitted his resignation on Sunday, June 8, through the Chief of Staff, <a target="_blank" href="http://gistreel.com/tag/Femi-Gbajabiamila"><strong>Femi Gbajabiamila</strong></a>, stating that his decision was effective immediately.</p>
<p>In a strongly worded resignation letter, Audu expressed unease over the increasing number of governors, legal figures, and opposition politicians who <strong>have joined the APC in recent months</strong>.</p>
<p><em>“Though I do not align with the PDP, I refuse to be used directly or indirectly as an instrument to reduce Nigeria to a one-party state. That would be a betrayal of both divine favour and democratic principle,”</em> Audu said.</p>
<p>In a separate statement released after stepping down, Audu clarified that his move was not an act of rebellion, but rather a matter of conscience and a commitment to preserving Nigeria’s democratic integrity.</p>
<p><em>“Leaders owe it to God to protect the values and justice within the system. Though I am stepping down, I will continue to support the government in power to work towards a better Nigeria,”</em> he added.</p>
<p>Audu also aimed at the growing political partnership between President Tinubu and Federal Capital Territory Minister <a target="_blank" href="http://gistreel.com/tag/Nyesom-Wike"><strong>Nyesom Wike</strong></a>, calling it an “unholy alliance” that undermines the ideals of progressivism.</p>
<p><em>“We just differ on political views, as I pride myself with being a progressive and a promoter of democratic values which seems to be lost in the unholy alliance of PBAT with Wike,”</em> he said.</p>
<p>Despite stepping away from his official role, Audu signalled his continued engagement in Nigeria’s political landscape, adding a humorous note:</p>
<p><em>“That does not mean our gbas gbos will seize o. We are still here for the attacks and counterattacks. Oya Agbadorians, over to you.”</em></p>
