Tinubu writes Reps, seeks approval of N2.1trn supplementary budget
President Bola Tinubu recently submitted a request to the House of Representatives, seeking their approval for a 2023 supplementary budget of N2,176,791,286,033. The budget is intended to address important matters such as labour wage adjustments and security concerns.
Additionally, President Tinubu has also sent the 2024–2026 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework & Fiscal Strategy Paper to the House of Representatives, demonstrating the government’s commitment to responsible financial planning.
The 2023 supplementary budget was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) during a meeting on Monday. Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, explained that the budget is necessary to address urgent issues, with N605 billion allocated for national defence and security.
This funding is crucial to sustain the progress made in security and to expedite further actions before the end of the year.
