President Bola Tinubu has condoled with the families who lost their children in a fire tragedy at an Islamic school in Zamfara State.
The incident occured on Tuesday night, in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara, killing at least 17 pupils.
Tinubu, in a statement signed by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday, commiserated with the state government and owners of the school and prayed for the quick recovery of those receiving medical attention.
The President enjoined all public and private schools to prioritise children’s safety and security at all times and directed regulatory authorities in the education sector to ensure compliance with safety standards.
A resident of the area, Abdulrasaq Bello Kaura, said the fire which started on Tuesday night also injured 16 other students of the school.
