Job description: This position is in-person and is located in Edmonton, Alberta at the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy and Kaye Edmonton Clinic.
The School of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time tenure track-faculty position in Periodontology at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to develop a viable and productive research program, for which start-up funds will be available. The successful candidate must demonstrate an interest and aptitude for clinical and didactic teaching in undergraduate and graduate periodontology. Time allocation for private practice will be integrated into this appointment.
Additionally, the successful individual will be appointed as the Director, Periodontology Graduate Program. The Director provides leadership in the Periodontology Graduate Program in the areas of didactic and clinical teaching, overall program curriculum, clinical program administration, clinical experiences, patient care, student research, and external relations with the dental community.
The Director position is appointed for an initial five (5) years, with potential for renewal following discussion with the Chair, School of Dentistry; the length of the second term may be dependent on the needs of the School and the incumbent but will not exceed five (5) years. Following the second term, the position will be subject to a search and selection process. The Director, Periodontology Graduate Program position has a 0.2 FTE designated administrative time allocation.
Applicants will have graduated from an accredited specialty program and have relevant postgraduate and clinical qualifications in the specialty of periodontics or an equivalent level as specified by the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC).
The successful candidate will have a PhD degree, teaching experience in a periodontology graduate program and possessing an excellent record of publication in reputable, peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Consideration will be given to applicants who have demonstrated the impact of their research, who provide evidence of established and respected research and teaching skills, and who have a demonstrated record of service at the departmental, institutional, national, and/or international levels. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise graduate students and involve them in their program of research.
Academic rank and salary will be based on the incumbent’s qualifications, experience, and achievements and in accordance with the Faculty Agreement.
