What will I be doing?

This role will support the delivery of structural examinations contract (SREC) in the Rail environment by supervising enabling works (such as de-vegetation and other minor works) as directed by the Enabling Works Co-Ordinator primarily working in the Southern Area – Wessex, Sussex & Kent.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• To supervise a variety of enabling works, reconnaissance and works delivery including (but not limited to) chainsaw works, brush cutting, hedge trimming, clearing debris from bridge bearings, removal of advertisement hoardings, de-watering of culverts, CCTV, brickwork removal/reinstatement, fence removal/re-instatement in accordance with company values
• To gain access permissions from landowners (during reconnaissance visits)
• Produce reconnaissance reports to assist the planning team.
• To capture site condition pre and post work in a factual report-driven manner
• To lead / promote and record close calls as identified and report through appropriate systems
• To put safety and well-being at the forefront of every task every time
• To work to specification / documentation in accordance with life-saving rules and appropriate policies & procedures
• To lead and direct operative(s), clients and sub-contractor as appropriate on site
• To promote safe working practices, setting the example for others to follow

• To work closely with the Planning Team to ensure that all SSOW documentation, track access and safety critical resource requirements are in place to deliver the program safely.

Under general supervision of the Streets and Drainage Superintendent, performs skilled operations of light duty equipment in the construction, repair and maintenance of City streets, sidewalks, driveways, signage, curbs and gutters along with other forms of storm drainage systems. Street and drainage work includes striping streets, repairing asphalt, pouring and finishing concrete, removing debris from grates, inlets and culverts. Employees in this class provide support in other Public Works functions, such as maintenance of City right of ways, clearing, collection and/or removal of trash, debris and brush, and special events as needed. Performs related work as directed.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Repairs streets, sidewalks and related areas due to potholes, damaged sidewalks and City construction activities.
• Maintains City streets, right of ways and drainage systems to include cleaning debris from grates, inlets and culverts, trimming overgrowth; installing, replacing and repairing signage, and repairing damaged sidewalks by operating various types of hand held, manual, gas or electrically powered tools such as push mower, weed eater, chain saw, etc.
• Maintains records concerning work orders, vehicle and equipment maintenance, inventory, etc.
• Under guidance of the Public Works Crew Leader and/or Streets and Drainage Superintendent and/ or Director of Public Works, ensures proper placement of traffic control devices, signs, and caution indicators per work site.
• Attends required safety meetings in accordance with department policy.
• Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees and the public.
• Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential. Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Must be available for revolving weekly on-call schedule, weekends or night call-outs when deemed necessary.
• Required to remain available for immediate call-in due to any natural or man-made disaster, as directed by the City Manager.

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Provides support to other Public Works functions as needed such as special events.

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines

• Valid Texas Class “C” or higher driver license must be maintained throughout employment.

• Ability to comprehend and retain knowledge of the practices and materials utilized in the installation, maintenance, and restoration and repair of streets and drainage systems.
• Considerable working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.

About the Role:

We have a full-time vacancy within in our Depot network for an experienced Coordinator.

We are looking for someone with accuracy, good administration and telephone skills, ability to use Microsoft packages and a desire to learn and be part of the team.

About You:

The successful candidate must have experience of working in a busy office for a minimum of 12 months, excellent IT skills (Excel, Word) and the ability to learn new in-house IT systems. You will be responsible for the smooth running of all administrative procedures as well as implementing and identifying areas where improvements can be made.

The Role:

Is reactive and integral to the fluidity of the operational teams & managers.

You will be responsible for the efficient communication between operational and commercial teams to ensure all works on site are tracked correctly to allow for prompt closures and billing.

You will be tasked with the collation of personnel-related paperwork such as inductions, training, leaver and joiner details, absence requests as well as carrying out a weekly analysis of wages, timesheets and whereabouts.

Monday to Friday 37.5 hours

Tasks will be varied and include:

• Liaising with our procurement team, transport team and training team
• Raising of purchase orders through our online portals
• Organization of vehicle maintenance calendars
• Arranging and tracking works permits
• Supporting with risk assessments & method statements,
• Collation of personnel-related paperwork such as inductions, training, leaver and joiner details
• Logging absence requests
• Carrying out a weekly analysis of wages, timesheets and whereabouts
