Position Profile
This position is open to various experience levels and offers excellent growth opportunities. The person selected will be expected to work on, and ultimately lead, roadway and/or drainage tasks on roadway projects including using MicroStation Open Roads Design (ORD) for development of Construction Plans. The position entrails collaboration with engineers in the Tallahassee and other Hanson offices. Projects will generally involve roadway and highway design projects for local governments, state departments of transportation, toll authorities, and private clients.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Hanson is actively seeking talented Transportation Engineering Interns to join our growing offices. You will work with a team of engineers on design and production of all aspects of roadway design including horizontal and vertical alignments; intersection layout; corridor modeling; drainage design; ROW, cross sections; utility plans; signing & marking; and quantity/cost estimating. This position will entail communication with the Project Managers and Engineers on key issues and project progress.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a part of this role, you will be responsible for carrying out highway occupancy tasks either in the District Office or in a County Office assigned to you within the district. Your main duty will be to conduct inspections of highway occupancy permit locations, ongoing work, and completed work to ensure that they meet the department’s standards, approved plans, materials, and workmanship. You will ensure that permittee and contractor plans are consistent with permit plans; ensure that any required security and insurance documents are valid and at the work site. In addition, you will conduct field views of permitted work to verify completeness in accordance with the permit and department regulations.
