This post sits within the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues, which is part of the Department of Education and Social Justice in the School of Education. The Jubilee Centre is a leading international interdisciplinary research centre, the biggest of its kind in the world, dedicated to research into, and developmental work in the areas, of character and virtues, in schools, professions and society at large.

Role Summary

The post holder will be responsible for managing designated Jubilee Centre and related projects. They will:

  • Work within a specified research grant and project and contribute to writing funder reports and funding bids.
  • Operate within the requirements of the project, but also contribute to the wider work and ethos of the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues.
  • Set up and manage online and in-person conferences and other events.
  • Offer capacity building support and advice to linked projects and maintain good communication with project leads and other staff.
  • Coordinate activity relating to academic consultants and advisors working within the project(s).
  • Proactively seek to ensure that the Jubilee Centre’s activities address and respond to the relevant needs of those being supported, and keep up to date with issues and developments.
  • Maintain good communication with funders and report on the work of the Jubilee Centre.
  • Manage wider Jubilee Centre administration – e.g. website, newsletter and general admin support.

Main Duties

  • Responsible for the delivery of one or more projects through the provision of significant and high level project management support. This may include some or all of the following:
  • supporting project leads to develop project plans, identifying (as appropriate) key performance indicators and milestones
  • reviewing and auditing progress on projects to identify and act on improvements to effectiveness, efficiency and delivery
  • reporting on progress including the development of reporting mechanisms, writing reports (eg on project budgetary management), and presenting to appropriate meetings such as Project Board, funders, or to other key stakeholders
  • providing executive support to Project Boards, work streams and working groups as required; setting agendas, collating and distributing papers and minutes and ensuring follow up action is taken
  • assessing and escalating as you deem appropriate issues and risks, including monitoring risk registers
  • stakeholder management, ensuring effective liaison with project partners, funders, Project Boards as appropriate.
  • managing project resources efficiently and effectively, including budgets, and ensure project documentation is maintained
  • Organise and manage expert panels to review project plans and outputs.
  • Coordinate the organisation of conferences/ meetings/ workshops/ dissemination events
  • Develop and deliver communication strategies for the projects, which may include developing, for example, newsletters, briefings for stakeholders and/or websites or other social media.
  • Ensure that priorities are balanced, taking action to deliver agreed deliverables against timelines.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Source, analyse and develop insights from the data to inform evaluation and review of projects.

  • Management and administration of online portals/websites.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • Qualified to Degree level or equivalent plus practical managerial experience or significant relevant experience demonstrated through increasingly more demanding roles evidencing the experience necessary for this role
  • Proven track record of successful project management, preferably using management tools/digital systems
  • Evidence of literacy and numeracy, with the ability to write clearly, and to produce and analyse information and data.
  • Excellent people-management skills
  • Excellent budgetary management skills
  • Highly proficient IT skills, including the MS Office and website editing software. You should be confident and able to quickly learn new IT skills and software packages as required.

Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Prospect Analyst is responsible for performing prospect development functions primarily in support of major and principal gift fundraising.

This position executes proactive and reactive research services as well as prospect management services for an assigned slate of development officer clients. Core responsibilities include compiling and analyzing data/intelligence on prospective donors, conducting reviews of development officer portfolios and pipelines, assisting with the creation and implementation of new/enhanced policies, procedures, and protocols, and contributing to special projects to advance the prospect development program. PharmaEssentia Innovation Research Center (PIRC) is seeking a Research Associate Scientist to join the Immunology and Pharmacology team and contribute to the development of novel immunotherapies for immunology and oncology in both clinical and pre-clinical programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for in vivo and ex vivo experiments to advance both exploratory and drug candidate discovery programs to support target validation, in-vivo efficacy, mechanism of action (MOA) and pharmacodynamic data essential to drive projects into clinical development. The ideal candidate will collaborate with other members of project teams and actively participate designing and conducting in vivo pharmacology models of immunology and oncology, as well as establishing early PK/PD for lead progression. This is a lab-based position and will have the opportunity to work independently and collaboratively to advance portfolio programs in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Our new research center, PharmaEssentia Innovation Research Center (PIRC), will build upon our invention and discovery-based innovation efforts originally established in Taiwan that led to a transformative advancement for treating polycythemia vera (one of the myeloid proliferative neoplasms). At PIRC, we aim to expand our current expertise in related therapeutic areas and identify novel therapeutic approaches in early to mid-stage discovery and development. Data scientists will leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to inform new target and indication selections. The company is also recruiting for talented scientists who have deep knowledge in immunology, translational science, bioinformatics and biologics platforms to develop novel drugs employing disease-driving biology, novel technology in protein engineering, antibody discovery and new modalities.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate and conduct in vivo and ex vivo studies across the different stages of preclinical drug discovery;
  • Performance of rodent experiments including preparation of test samples, handling and dosing mice with various routes (SC, IP, IV or PO), collection of blood and tissues and mammalian immune cell functions;
  • Collaborate extensively with other members of PIRC for protocol development and execution of studies in the immunology and oncology therapeutic area;
  • Independently responsible for authoring animal protocols and ensuring their authorization and compliance;
  • Data analysis and thorough documentation of work in the Company’s ELN system;
  • Presentation of results in team meetings, other group settings;
  • Working cross-functionally as part of internal multi-disciplinary project teams; and
  • Maintaining a safe and clean vivarium and laboratory environment following all precautions required for a BSL2/BSL2+ setting.

Essential Qualifications:

  • B.S./M.S. in immunology, biology, oncology or related discipline with 2-4 years of relevant academic or industry experience;
  • Expertise in syngeneic or xenograft tumor models; PK/PD experience is a plus
  • Hands-on experience in mammalian innate immune cell functions including macrophage, NK cells and so on;
  • Familiar with human and murine primary cell isolation, cytokine profiling by ELISA or MSD or Luminex, T cells and myeloid cell functional assays. Experience in multi-color flow cytometry to evaluate immune cells function and data analysis software is a plus;
  • Ability to follow defined procedures and protocols, and strong attention to detail;
  • Willingness to learn new research methods and a desire for continued learning and development;
  • Excellent organization and record-keeping skills;
  • Demonstrated accountability and responsibility for own work; and
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.

The Role

The Department of Physics have a number of funded opportunities for outstanding early career researchers to join the Centre for Extragalactic Astronomy. This particular opportunity relates to absorption-line studies of the intergalactic medium and/or multiwavelength studies of the formation and evolution of galaxies and AGN. In particular the use of the data from the recently launched XRISM satellite would be encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • To conduct individual and collaborative research projects under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Prof Chris Done.
  • To work with the Principal Investigator and other colleagues in the research group, as appropriate, to identify areas for research, develop new research methods and extend the research portfolio.

Position Summary:

The Research Assistant will assist Prof. Tasmia Hai in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, in terms of coordination and administrative and logistical tasks related to research with children and families with attention and behavioral problems. This research will also include conducting standardized assessments and neuroimaging.

This Research Assistant will work with Prof. Hai as a research coordinator on several interrelated studies related to attention and behavior problems in children and newcomer and immigrant families. The position is an opportunity for someone looking to develop or expand their research with children with neurodevelopmental disorders.

List of Duties for the position: Assist with all aspects of research coordination, including, but not limited to, taking minutes at meeting, following up with individuals concerning tasks, and other duties specified below:

Qualifications:

  • Holds a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree in a related and appropriate field (e.g., Psychology, Psychiatry, Neuroscience or related disciplines). Candidates from other disciplines are also welcome to apply if they meet other eligibility criteria.
  • At least 2 years of research assistance experience or related project management experience.
  • Experience working with children and families is a requirement.
  • Excellent ability to communicate in English AND French, both spoken and written, is essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills and conscientiousness and interest in clerical work are essential.
  • Good communication skills and creativity.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Office) including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, and of Zoom. Knowledge of other relevant computer software or web application (e.g. NVivo, Zotero) will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of statistical softwares such as SPSS will be considered an asset
  • Capacity to learn to work with university financial and human resources softwares.
  • Authorized to work in Canada for the duration of the position.

Workplace

  • This position will require mostly in-person work at the McGill University downtown campus and the Douglas Research Centre and some remote work opportunities.
