  • Work with GSC/PCs on commissioning requirements and other build requirements
  • Identifying and managing potential risks and liabilities of multiple projects and hold risk reviews
  • Negotiating project scope creep and change management with the customer
  • Manage contract disputes

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 4 year degree preferably in Engineering or Business Management. PMP Certification or Equivalent.
  • 4-10 years experience Project Management
  • Shipbuilding & Operations Industry Knowledge is essential
  • Customer facing/relationship management is essential
  • US government contracting or program management experience preferred

NCC’s Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) coordinates the arrival, orientation and initial steps of settlement for government-assisted refugee clients. The RAP Assistant is part of the RAP Team and assists with all direct services provided to government assisted refugees during the period they are in temporary housing, as well as any related case management work with clients as directed by the Manager of Refugee Resettlement.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Direct Services:

  • Assist the RAP staff team with the following tasks:
  • Preparing temporary housing (refugee reception house or hotel accommodations) for the arrival of new families, including purchasing necessary supplies, such as linens and other household items; arranging for cleaning and maintenance work at temporary housing.
  • Arranging for food for clients in temporary housing, including catering with local restaurants and/or purchasing groceries or food cards for clients
  • Addressing client needs during their stay in temporary housing and/or during COVID quarantine, including daily check ins, purchasing of food and personal care items, arranging for communications with NCC staff and others (cell phones, laptops etc.), and any other needs that arise
  • Assisting with search for permanent housing for newly arrived clients, including delivering housing orientation, liaising with the Housing Resource Centre, scanning online sources, contacting local landlords and community members, arranging for viewings, explaining lease agreements to clients and arranging for utilities and rent subsidies
  • Assisting with any medical or health care related issues, such as arranging medical appointments
  • Liaising with volunteer support team members as appropriate
  • Assisting with donation of items and liaising with related donors and partners
  • Taking on call responsibilities during evenings and/or weekends when clients are in temporary housing

Office Administration:

  • Assist with client documentation and tracking, including preparation and filing of client intake forms, notes and records; updating client files and/or client database; recording additional information as specified (monthly statistics, iCARE, etc.)
  • Attend regular staff meetings as required
  • Provide Manager of Refugee Resettlement with information as requested and in a timely manner

General Responsibilities

  • Support the mandate of the New Canadians Centre Peterborough
  • Complete required documentation such as expense reports and timesheets
  • Perform other support duties as needed

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in a field related to Community Development, Social Work and/or Social Service Work, or equivalent working experience.
  • Experience in counseling, needs assessment and/or conflict resolution is an asset
  • Work experience in the non-profit sector is an asset
  • Lived experience as a newcomer to Canada or as a member of a marginalized group, as voluntarily self-identified, is viewed favourably.
  • Knowledge of community resources, as well as landlords, caterers and related businesses is an asset
  • Knowledge of property maintenance and basic home repair is an asset

Competencies:

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills applicable to a multicultural setting is required
  • Fluency in other languages such as Arabic, Dari, Pashto is an asset
  • Understanding and empathy for the struggles which immigrants, refugees and newcomers face in starting a new life in Canada; knowledge of issues facing resettled refugees in general and the Resettlement Assistance Program more specifically considered an asset
  • Understanding of anti-oppressive language and concepts including power, privilege, intersectionality, and racism
  • Detail oriented, with strong organizational, research, problem solving and time management skills
  • Must be able and willing to lift and move items, such as small furniture, and drive rental vehicles
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Adaptability and responsiveness to client and organizational needs
  • Ability to work under pressure and address emergency situations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle important documents in a sensitive manner
  • Demonstrated ability to keep accurate records, write reports and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in use of computers and Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access

Position : Senior Technical Advisor, USAID/Power Africa Empower Nigeria Program

Position Summary:

DT Global seeks a Senior Technical Advisor for the anticipated U.S. Agency for International Development’s Power Africa Empower Nigeria program. The program has three ambitious, interconnected objectives to: 1) end energy poverty; 2) accelerate a carbon free future; and 3) bolster energy sector investment and innovation.

Under objective 1, ending energy poverty, the Empower Nigeria program will increase the availability of and access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and clean energy in Nigeria to reach measurable economic growth and achieve development outcomes, such as reducing poverty, improving livelihoods, and increasing inclusive access to electricity – enabled services in areas such as health, education, sanitation and food security. Activities under this objective will also support the accelerated connection of more Nigerian homes, businesses, and institutions to electricity and increase its productive use.

Through objective 2, accelerating a carbon free future, Empower Nigeria will work reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the energy sector by supporting cleaner electricity generation delivered by the grid and accelerating distributed renewable energy projects. The program will also support government resource planning leading to the adoption and integration of renewable energy sources and solutions to meet climate action commitments.

Under objective 3, Empower Nigeria will help crowd-in new technologies, innovations, and financing that scales access and impact, increase access to private capital investment, including improved uptake of climate funds, and working in partnership with state governments and regional West African institutions to improve the enabling environment for energy sector investment and innovation.

The senior technical advisor is responsible for providing overall technical leadership to achieve Empower Nigeria’s expected results. This position will be based in Abuja, with frequent travel within Nigeria required. Final recruitment for this position is contingent on a contract award to DT Global and is subject to USAID approval.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical leadership in delivery of expected results.
  • Managing, supervising and coordinating technical services, prioritizing the activities in-country, and providing thought leadership and technical support as needed to accelerate a support activity.
  • Regularly liaising with the Power Africa Coordinator’s Office, USAID missions, and other USG agencies, as appropriate.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with relevant regional organizations, such as the African Development Bank, and with private sector companies and host country governments.

  • Registration with the Provincial College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers is mandatory.

What You Could Learn:

  • Learning the process of onboarding new clients and their integrations including arranging non-disclosure agreement (NDA’s) and contracts and project managing the client implementation process including business decisions, auditing and sign-off
  • Supporting client queries ensuring these are dealt with effectively and efficiently with escalation points within the business as required.

General Statement

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Adult Education Success and Access Programs:

Student Recruitment and Management

  • Develop and leverage data to identify students eligible for the Montana’s Own and 1893 Scholars Programs, invite students to apply, and collaborate with the Associate Director to award scholarships.
  • Actively and regularly meet with Montana’s Own and 1893 Scholars in their educational pursuits including but not limited to goal setting, classes and faculty interaction, time-management, networking, mentoring, and other activities that create a successful student.
  • Partner with key AYCSS entities to assist Scholars in the areas of career ideation and development, mentoring, job and internship opportunities, and financial literacy.
  • Partner with key campus entities including but not limited to academic advisors, Dean of Students, Counseling & Psychological Services, ASMSU, Disability and Veteran’s Services, etc. to support Scholars.

Program Development and Implementation

  • Working in collaboration with the Associate Director, develop and deliver a variety of learning and networking opportunities for Scholars including but not limited to leadership and personal development, NACE Career Development Competencies, finding purpose and meaning in their career, what to expect after graduation, etc.
  • Develop, manage, and analyze data for measuring efficacy of the programs and adjusting strategy as needed.

Communications and Marketing

  • Develop and manage the bi-weekly program e-newsletter.
  • Working in collaboration with the Associate Director and AYCSS Communications team, develop innovative marketing and communications to advertise the Montana’s Own and 1893 programs to potential and future students. Communication should utilize the IKAB model and be developmentally appropriate using AYCSS student socialization models to benchmark methods and strategies for MSU students.
  • Working in collaboration with the Associate Director and AYCSS Communications team, develop and maintain program websites.
  • In partnership with the Associate Director and Communications Manager, develop and create materials for presentations, grants, and marketing efforts for both internal and external audiences that follow the university’s marketing and branding guides as articulated by University Communications.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills * Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, or a combination of education and/or experience from which comparable skills are acquired.

  • Experience in student advising at the post-secondary level or experience with professional coaching.
  • Demonstrated experience in program delivery and with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Demonstrated technical competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software & relational databases with a willingness to learn additional department and MSU specific software and programs.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills * Master’s degree in related field.

  • Demonstrated experience with teaching and learning pedagogy.
  • Experience facilitating and instructing small group workshops and classes.
