The Clinical Lead GP will report to the Regional GP Director and be responsible for leading and managing the practice to improve performance in partnership with the Practice Manager. They will have responsibility for overall practice performance to deliver care in line with contracted values, locally and Nationally Enhanced Schemes. They will also be expected to attend and represent Operose Health in locality and GP Federation meetings on behalf of the practice. The Clinical Lead GP Lead role includes: Working in partnership with the practice manager to attain all CQC, local and contracted requirements. Working in partnership with the wider corporate team to promote and deliver best practice care. Development and line management of Clinicians within the practice, including GP’s, nurses, pharmacists and AHPs. Recruit team members using Operose Health recruitment support, in line with budgets and establishment. Ensuring that SEAs and incidents are appropriately investigated and fed back, and establishing a strong safety culture. Thinking innovatively about the future, and how to provide care in the context of the GP Forward View and 10 Year Plan. The Clinical Lead will be expected to work flexibly in providing leadership duties including (but not limited to) their management session. The post holder will take part in leading on key disease areas (monitoring trends in the Quality and Outcomes Framework, Diabetes 8 Care Processes and Triple Target control, immunisation uptake, screening uptake, local KPIs, staff training and prescribing) and assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for a diverse, patient list (NHS Choices and GP Patient Survey, patient participation and health promotion). Closely supported by the clinical and management teams the post holder will act as the Clinical Lead within the practice but will also be part of a larger clinical team across a network of practices. The role will be at the forefront of delivering an innovative model of primary care service provision operating in partnership with other local practices offering integrated primary care services. Duties and Responsibilities:
Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking Initial Assessments under Section 17
  • Undertaking Core Assessments under Section 47
  • Undertaking Child Protection Enquiries under Section 47
  • Undertaking Pre-Birth Assessments under Section 47
  • Undertaking assessments using the Common Assessment Framework
  • Undertaking Risk Assessments
  • Applying for and obtaining Emergency Protection Orders
  • Preparing and presenting case conference reports
  • Applying for and obtaining Emergency Protection Orders

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification – Degree or equivalent
  • At least 2 years experience as a social worker within childrens services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle

They will have responsibility for overall practice performance to deliver care in line with contracted values, locally and Nationally Enhanced Schemes. They will also be expected to attend and represent Operose Health in locality and GP Federation meetings on behalf of the practice.

The Clinical Lead GP Lead role includes:

  • Working in partnership with the practice manager to attain all CQC, local and contracted requirements.
  • Working in partnership with the wider corporate team to promote and deliver best practice care.
  • Development and line management of Clinicians within the practice, including GP’s, nurses, pharmacists and AHPs.
  • Recruit team members using Operose Health recruitment support, in line with budgets and establishment.
  • Ensuring that SEAs and incidents are appropriately investigated and fed back, and establishing a strong safety culture.
  • Thinking innovatively about the future, and how to provide care in the context of the GP Forward View and 10 Year Plan.
  • The Clinical Lead will be expected to work flexibly in providing leadership duties including (but not limited to) their management session.

The post holder will take part in leading on key disease areas (monitoring trends in the Quality and Outcomes Framework, Diabetes 8 Care Processes and Triple Target control, immunisation uptake, screening uptake, local KPIs, staff training and prescribing) and assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for a diverse, patient list (NHS Choices and GP Patient Survey, patient participation and health promotion).

Closely supported by the clinical and management teams the post holder will act as the Clinical Lead within the practice but will also be part of a larger clinical team across a network of practices. The role will be at the forefront of delivering an innovative model of primary care service provision operating in partnership with other local practices offering integrated primary care services.

Daily Tasks

  • To work with the Theatre and anaesthetic division across the range of clinical specialities as required and following appropriate training.
  • To provide support if required to other specialist areas within the division including anaesthetics, recovery, day surgery ward, surgical reception, pre assessment and pain management.
  • Checking, witnessing and administering controlled drugs.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of how to use medical devices safely and effectively.
  • Advising the Theatre coordinator or Team Leader of proposed changes in the order of operating lists and bed issues.
  • Co-operating with appropriate staff in safe transfer of patients to and from the operating theatres and other wards/ department.
  • Assist in the teaching and supervision of learners entering the operating theatres to gain specialist training, this include nursing and ODP trainees, medical students and apprenticeship.
  • Be prepared to work across the theatre specialities (acquired skills allowing) if required to do so in order to meet the needs of the service.
  • Undertake any reasonable duty as directed by a person in charge to ensure the smooth running of the department.
  • Be responsible for reporting their sick and annual leave in line with departmental guideline.
  • Ensure that appearance and behaviour are in accordance with Trust’s policy.
  • Ensure that all theatre areas are clean and escalate to theatre coordinator as necessary.
  • To ensure that pharmaceutical supplies are stored appropriately. Keeping the storage room and fridge neat and tidy at all times.
  • To ensure that supplies of oxygen and other medical gas cylinders and related sundries are maintained and safely stored.
  • Received and check supplied goods against the delivery note or original specification in liaison with procurement supplies officer.
  • Responsible for the equipment in own speciality, ensuring it is used safely and effectively, kept in working order and properly maintained.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Communication

  • Record observations accurately in accordance with the patients’ condition. Interpret and inform the nurse in charge of changing data and respond as directed
  • Report clinical issues/complaints to the Theatre coordinator. In cases where investigation is required, verbal or written statements and any other evidences must be provided promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate written and electronic documentation in relation to patient care. This must be completed in an appropriately and timely manner.
  • Provide information which enables patients to make choices about adopting a healthier lifestyle.
  • Assist patients to gain access to health and social care, information and support relevant to their needs.
  • Participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication with the patient and their carer(s)
  • Develop communication skills in order to convey complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers and other staff, overcoming any barriers to understanding and providing support during distressing or emotional events. This includes expanded role responsibilities, following appropriate training
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
  • Maintain professional boundaries and working relationships with patients and colleagues

Personal and People Development

  • Be responsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness in accordance with CPD requirements and maintain a professional profile
  • Assist in training and development of Nursing assistants and junior colleagues and complete assessors training as required.
  • Attend Trust/local orientation programmes, mandatory training sessions and annual updates
  • To attend departmental meeting as required
  • Participate in annual staff appraisal, staff development and in-service training development programmes
  • Help maintain a suitable learning environment for staff and act as a facilitator in the supervision and teaching of nursing students and others to develop their competence
  • Develop own teaching skills and participate in staff/student education programmes that develop competence and performance
  • Act as a preceptor/facilitator/mentor for junior colleagues.
  • Take part in reflection and appropriate learning from practice, in order to maintain and develop competence and performance

Health, Safety and Security

  • All staff has responsibility to prevent and control infections. This include but not limited to ensuring compliance with relevant policies, especially hand hygiene, dress code, MRSA screening and cleaning and decontamination guidelines.
  • Implementing safety measures in relation to swabs and instrument and needle count, administration of blood and blood products, ionising radiation, medicines management, electricity and explosion hazards, fire.
  • Be totally aware and conversant with the Health and Safety at work act and comply with the regulations.
  • Develop an awareness of personal responsibility with regard to maintenance of a clean environment that is conducive to safe, therapeutic and ethical practice
  • Be accountable for and ensure own competence in practice, e.g. use of specialised medical devices
  • Be aware of own personal/professional limitations and seek help of others to maintain safe practice.

BC Cancer – Abbotsford is looking for a family physician to work part-time within the Radiation Oncology Department as a General Practitioner in Oncology (GPO). The GPO works collaboratively with Radiation Oncologists and other medical specialists, nurses and clerical staff in an interdisciplinary working environment. The role includes ambulatory care of patients on therapy and in follow up. There is a component of the role that supports inpatient care as well. There is no on call service associated with this role.

BC Cancer – Abbotsford is a full service cancer centre that provides service to approximately 1800 new patients per year. The centre has a full range of medical oncology, diagnostic and support service and is committed to excellence in clinical care and focused on developing academic excellence in a provincial cancer care environment.

Abbotsford, the “City in the Country”, is nested in the shadow of majestic Mt. Baker, in the eastern Fraser Valley, and has a blend of modern urban living and a friendly country atmosphere. Thanks to the comfortable west coast climate and surrounding geography, a variety of recreational opportunities are nearby. Abbotsford is at a short drive to Vancouver, BC and Seattle, WA.

In addition to being licensed to practice as a family physician in British Columbia, you will also meet the requirements for appointment as a member of the medical staff of the BC Cancer Agency and Abbotsford Regional Hospital. In-patient and oncology experience is an asset but is not required. You must also be suitable for appointment to the University of British Columbia. No previous experience in radiation oncology is required; the department will support the successful applicant in developing the requisite expertise for the role.

Successful candidates will have:
