Your Impact:

Jacobs is currently looking to hire an Intermediate to Associate Environmental Planner based out of the Western Canadian offices of either (Burnaby, Victoria, Calgary or Edmonton) to join our dynamic team. This position provides technical leadership and guidance to our multi-disciplinary (environment practitioners) teams during the design, construction, and operations of infrastructure projects in western Canada relative to regulatory requirements, environmental due diligence, and planning. The successful candidate will join our Global Environmental Solutions group and will work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams to oversee the environmental permitting and planning efforts of government and privately owned infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities For Success:

  • Support environmental planning and permitting work with a multi-disciplinary team throughout the life cycle of a project.
  • Oversee the preparation of permit and regulatory filings, and environmental management plans.
  • Coordinate and provide technical writing support for projects and programs. Includes coordinating the completion of subject specific environmental studies.
  • Supporting engagement efforts with Indigenous communities, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with members of the public, government and non-government communities, associations, tenure holders and Indigenous communities.
  • In a collaborative manner, develop and expand our client portfolio, including support for Business Development and proposal efforts.
  • Develop staff through on-the-job mentorship.
  • Be a Safety Leader for the project and promote Jacobs Beyond Zero and our culture of caring.

The base salary range for this position is $61,400 to $80,550. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Geography, Biology/Ecology or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years previous and related experience in the natural resources sector in Canada, preferably in BC and in a consulting environment.
  • Experience navigating provincial and federal environmental legislation and regulatory requirements, primarily in western Canada.
  • Understanding of managing budgets and schedules.
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills.
  • Time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects and meet project deadlines.
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal and willingness to be client facing to grow our planning and permitting services.
  • High level of initiative and problem solving
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Experience or knowledge of Indigenous cultural values.
  • Strong consideration for safety.
  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal and communication skills suited to working with a variety of different teams.
  • High attention to detail and strong desire to provide high quality deliverables.
  • Experience seeing major projects from planning through construction.
  • Construction based environmental monitoring experience.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with strong organizational and time management skills.
