Replacement Professor Position in Mathematics and Statistics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of Ottawa invites applications to fill one replacement professor position in probability and statistics, to begin July 1st, 2024.

Title of the position: Replacement professor

Duties: The functions of a member of the academic staff include, in varying proportions: teaching activities (six courses per year) and academic service activities. The candidate will be expected to teach in French and English.

Terms: A 2-year contract, renewable

Wage: Salary scales for Assistant Professors start at $89,622 (as of May 2023).

Applicants must have completed a doctorate in Mathematics Education. Candidates must have relevant K-12 teaching experience, and post-secondary level teaching experience, including graduate student teaching and supervision. Applicants must demonstrate scholarly excellence in terms of productivity, collaboration, and creative innovation in understanding African immigrant families’ support for their children’s mathematics learning in Canada.

Responsibilities will include:

  • teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Mathematics Education and/or other areas of education across the Faculty;
  • engagement in a research program relevant to African immigrant families supporting their children’s Mathematics Education; Immigrant Parents, Mathematics and Social Justice, Mathematics and Race, Culturally Responsive Education, Anti-Racist Education, Anti-Oppression Education, and/or Anti-Colonial, Decolonial, Postcolonial Education.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • contribution to service within the Faculty, University, and professional communities; and advising and supervising graduate students.
