Position Overview:

Wild Outside (WO), a year-round youth education program of CWF, is seeking a Youth Leadership Specialist in Montreal, QC. This position is a temporary maternity leave replacement. This program, which is supported by the Canada Service Corps, combines outdoor experience with service learning and leadership development for youth ages 15–18 across Canada. Youth Leadership Specialists (YLS) play an important role as they work to facilitate and coordinate a variety of experiential activities in their local communities that help aid in the awareness, education, and connection between youth, the outdoors, and their community as it pertains to sustainability and conservation. This is a location-based work-from-home opportunity that requires the ideal candidate to be a self-starter. Each city that Wild Outside operates in consists of 2 staff that will work both independently and as a team to accomplish program goals. Youth Leadership Specialists will work under the support and guidance of Wild Outside management, and will frequently collaborate with the Education, Finance, Marketing, IT, and Human Resources departments.

Qualifications/Experience:

Required:

  • Experience (professional or volunteer) in the development and oversight of experiential education programming for youth.
  • Relevant Diploma, Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in either education/youth work, social work, community development or environment/conservation.
  • Bilingual (English/French) written & oral required, any additional language would be an asset
  • Employee must have a valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle and must be legally able to rent a vehicle.
  • First Aid – Standard first aid or higher. (Can be obtained later)
  • Mental Health First Aid (Can be obtained later)
  • Group facilitation/management skills and public speaking abilities.
  • Basic computer program knowledge (Microsoft suite) and data entry skills necessary. Ability to learn new programs required.
  • Must reside within reasonable commuting distance from the city applying for, or willing to relocate at own expense.

Assets:

  • Some experience (personal, professional, or volunteer) in the outdoors, outdoor recreation, coaching, camp counselling and community service groups.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and knowledge of Indigenous cultures.

Supporting the Wild Outside Management team the Wild Outside Youth Leadership Specialist will:

  • Ensure that participants are prepared for full participation in programs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate programing in their assigned communities.
  • Maintain a network of partners to support delivery of the program.
  • Assist with the recruitment of youth & adult volunteers wishing to participate in the program.
  • Perform community outreach.
  • Ensure that program participants assigned to them are connected with CWF’s programming and programming connected with other program partners.
  • Facilitate program activities and tracking results of the delivery of the program in their city.
  • Manage, maintain, and evaluate programs/activities.
  • Maintain all relevant paperwork and data.
  • Seek out potential local/provincial funding sources for the program.
  • Contribute as a member of a youth service and conservation communities of practice.

Core Duties:

Program Planning

  • Recruit program participants to reflect Canada’s diversity and helping to prepare them for the program.
  • Develop mentor relationships with the participants from intake process, during program participation, and as alumni
  • Ensure facilities and venues for programs are appropriate and meet safety standards.
  • Purchase supplies or services from outside vendors.
  • Book and plan events (transportation, venues, speakers, supplies etc.)
  • Ensure events have been assessed and compatible with our risk management policies.
  • Communicate Weekly/monthly with participants/families, volunteers and partners through newsletters, meetings, and other methods.
  • Develop and encourage leadership opportunities for participants.
  • Develop at home challenges and ways to stay connected with participants between in-person events.
  • Coordinate ‘to do’ lists in their city and manage your time effectively.
  • Co-creating program materials and resources for their city programs.

Program Delivery

  • Facilitate the delivery of programming to participants in outdoor activities and in conservation service projects.
  • Use of experiential education methods in program delivery.
  • Supervise and facilitate program participants, and adult volunteers assigned to them.

Program Follow-up

  • Contribute to internal updates, reports, and prepare informational spreadsheets.
  • Keep up with frequent data entry and statistics reporting on programming.
  • Participate in risk management reviews and evaluate programs/activities regularly to adapt as needed.
  • Keep local inventory up-to-date and maintain equipment.

Program Supports

  • Maintain local participant subsidy supports as needed.
  • Maintain a presence in the community through school & community presentations, booths, fairs/festivals, conferences, and other outreach opportunities.
  • Research in city/province/region opportunities for collaboration with possible partners.
  • Research in city/province/region for possible funding opportunities.
  • Support CWF/WO Communications & Marketing Plan.
  • Keep up with CWF programs, polices and procedures.

Other/General

  • Maintain good lines of communications with various audiences.
  • Maintain regular communication with CWF/Wild Outside supervisors, colleagues and partners regularly.
  • Work as part of small and large teams. Attend appropriate team meetings (in person and remote).
  • Represent the best of CWF/Wild Outside brand including the wearing of corporate dress/professional standards as required.
  • Participate in and contribution national event and program planning committees.

Position Profile:

  • Full-time, fixed-term position until March 31, 2024. Possibility of extension pending program funding decisions. This could turn in to a 1-year maternity leave replacement position.
  • Typically working 37.5 hours per week, overtime may be required.
  • Flexible schedule, including ability to travel to both rural and urban areas, and work nights and weekends as needed.

This is a pivotal role within the business to be part of a leading B Corp parent and baby brand and to help us realise our vision to be able to offer valuable products and expertise as families begin their journey into parenthood.

As the interim Marketing & PR Manager you will work alongside the other members of the Digital Marketing, Communications and Creative Services team to contribute to the delivery of the overall marketing strategy and plan. You will have overall responsibility for the media relations at JoJo, as well as leading on campaign planning, B Corp activity and Charity initiatives.

Reporting to the Marketing Director, the interim Marketing & PR Manager is responsible for building the marketing and communication plan for JoJo Maman Bebe Ltd. Working closely with NEXT PLC, E-Commerce/ Digital Marketing, Retail, Buying and Merchandising teams, this role is responsible for the successful development, implementation of multiple marketing campaigns, including responsibility for monitoring progress of campaigns and initiating follow up activities to ensure all leads are tracked to demonstrate ROI. The employee is seen as trusted advisor on all marketing communications matters.

Line Managing the team of Marketing, PR, Social Media and Charity, you will deliver customer focused integrated marketing campaigns, events & external communication programmes, supporting the business strategy by building brand awareness, enhancing our offer and driving market share.You will demonstrate an enthusiastic and genuine passion for JoJo, actively contributing to the promotion and development of brand awareness overall, our B Corp status as well as knowledge of JoJo’s collections and products and community commitment.

You will also be hands on when needed to contribute to the implementation of the overall marketing plan as required.

The role will include the following responsibilities:

Marketing Campaigns and Events

  • Support the Marketing Director to define the marketing and communications calendar in support of product trade marketing and brand campaigns, integrated across all customer touchpoint channels for the UK and rest of the world.
  • Develop and execute a trade marketing plan aligned to retail and digital priorities and events that are on-brand and are tailored to the JoJo customer
  • Prepare detailed briefs to ensure all stakeholders and relevant departments are briefed on time and know the deliverables
  • Create and manage activation timelines, accuracy and budget
  • Work with the Creative Services teams to create on-brand assets and POS
  • Develop and deliver customer communications plan, optimising customer touchpoints supporting omni-channel goals.
  • Source and collaborate with partners
  • Agree KPI’s with the Marketing Director and work with NEXT PLC to deliver post campaign analysis on all campaigns and events, looking at sales, ROI, store and customer feedback, and value. Interpret results and provide useful and actionable recommendations
  • Work with the Next analyst to understand and identify opportunities. Implement campaigns based on these insights
  • Manage B2B gift card strategy, working closely with agencies to deliver objectives
  • Manage in store and virtual customer appointment and event booking system, optimise to increase ROI
  • Recommend ad hoc campaigns that fit a particular business requirement – e.g. boost sales in a particular region
  • Ensure B Corp and Sustainability marketing objectives are met through consistent brand message and communications
  • Budgetary control of associated budgets

PR & Communications

Supporting the Social Media and PR team to:

  • Work with the Marketing Director to execute a defined PR and media plan to promote JoJo brand and new collections, ensuring our activity is true to our values.
  • Manage all PR activity, campaigns supporting the business strategy and growth of key categories across Kids, Baby, Maternity, Home & Sleep Equipment, Toys and Gifts.
  • Ensure activity across all key areas of responsibility – Media Relations, Media Collateral, Brand Features, is brand appropriate, effective and has real impact. Aligning all activity with JoJo core values.
  • Create PR campaign strategies to grow brand awareness amongst targeted audiences, securing regular coverage and advocacy.
  • Maintain and develop strong journalist relationships with key media through outreach, pitching, events and writing press releases
  • Develop top target lists and set goals for maintaining key KPI’s.
  • Actively contact and have regular face to face meetings with media about new products/collections of interest and inspire feature ideas.
  • Drive the Social Media Strategy by delivering an integrated social calendar, reaching existing and new audiences through engaging content and conversation on multiple platforms
  • Managing the Social Media team to ensure the channels are optimised for delivering business KPIs and able to react to social media trends and moments.
  • Feeding into paid and brand media briefs to ensure paid and organic content is connected and consistent.
  • Partner with influencers to support product launches and seasonal websitechanges
  • Promote instore events and promotions in tandem with other marketing efforts
  • Manage charity initiatives and relationships
  • Close the gap between retail and online customers to enhance the omnichannel experience
  • Ensure key KPIs are reported on every month

Team Collaboration and Management

  • Cross collaborate with members of the Digital Marketing, Marketing & Creative Services team on other areas of activity, such as trade marketing planning, media relations, asset planning, customer events and PR, social media, as required.
  • Manage and develop the Marketing, Social & PR function to deliver their best work.
  • Be a role model and active member of the Marketing Function and help to motivate each other to collaborate and support each other to ensure effective communication.
  • Attend relevant meetings on behalf of the department, provide and confidently present any information needed by other departments.
