Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

is a regional higher education center of the University System of Maryland (USM) located in Rockville, Maryland, serving students from Montgomery County and the surrounding region. USG is an innovative partnership with nine public universities, providing access to approximately 80 high-demand undergraduate and graduate degree programs specifically selected to respond to the workforce needs of the county and region. The campus currently serves more than 3,500 students enrolled in daytime, evening, full-time and part-time degree programs. In 2020, the Biomedical Sciences and Engineering (BSE) Education Facility opened to expand USG’s degree and certification offerings in STEM fields, including health and life sciences, information science and technology, and engineering. The Priddy Library seeks an innovative and enthusiastic information professional to serve as the Education, Psychology, and Social Work Librarian at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG). The successful candidate will provide subject-specific information literacy instruction, manage collections related to assigned subject areas, maintain strong relationships with faculty and students in assigned undergraduate and graduate programs, and implement curricula, research, and technological innovation at USG. The incumbent will be an active member of the Research and Academic Services (RAS) division, contributing to departmental and divisional initiatives and leading specific projects in collaboration with colleagues and other units in the Libraries and with University System of Maryland & Affiliated Institutions (USMAI), a consortium of seventeen academic libraries in the State of Maryland. The successful candidate participates in developing and maintaining a departmental culture that is inclusive, equitable, diverse, customer-centered, and responsive to changes happening in academic libraries and higher education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides subject-specific information literacy instruction for the assigned disciplines (30%).
  • Provides one-to-one research consultations (25%).
  • Develops and provides workshops (25%).
  • Manages collections in assigned areas (10%).
  • Actively engages in outreach efforts to programs that fall under these subject areas. Builds relationships with faculty and students, collaborating across the entire lifecycle of research and scholarship . Assists with special projects and programs as assigned. Participates in university and/or library activities and training related to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Consortial Systems (CS) Librarian is part of a team of Systems Librarians and professional staff dedicated to the shared systems and services managed by the University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions (USMAI) Library Consortium. The CS Librarian participates in the implementation, maintenance, and support of applications used by the 17 member libraries that make up the consortium. Reporting to the Head of Consortial Library Systems and Operations, the Consortial Systems Librarian works with other USMAI team members to meet operational objectives and maintain current systems and services, respond to member problems utilizing ticketing systems and other methods to track work progress and communicate USMAI staff and member-library staff working in multiple locations. The incumbent supports collaboration and teamwork by liaising with consortium committees, communities, and working groups in suggesting and drafting policies, procedures, and programs. The Consortial Systems Librarian supports excellence through system and subject matter expertise. USMAI is currently undergoing an ILS system migration to Alma / Primo VE so the incumbent must have or develop broad and detailed mastery of these systems, especially in access service and resource sharing, to help the consortium maximize efficiencies through both workflows and system integration. Working with other USMAI staff and in consultation with the consortium’s longterm and strategic goals, the Consortial Systems Librarian gathers data to evaluate programs and services. Under the direction of the Head of Consortial Library Systems & Operations, the Consortial Systems Librarian effectively balances liaising with members of the subject matter community with demands of the day-to-day operational needs of the consortium.

In addition to being responsible for administration of the library you will serve as the Primary DER for the Drug and Alcohol Program. You will interface with all levels of the company as well as with outside regulatory agencies, vendors, and customers in this highly detail-oriented role.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensures Regulatory and Compliance requirements are met regarding Technical Data, Records management, and Drug & Alcohol Program.
  • Acquires, organizes, and preserves technical data while ensuring quality standards and corporate policies are met.
  • Supports and maintains an extensive network of technical information resources from various sources like government agencies, manufacturers, airlines, sister companies, and internal engineers
  • Functions as an admin for multiple external technical data portals assuring confidentiality and security; often involves troubleshooting of various computer applications
  • Maintains multiple databases
  • Performs periodic reconciliations of digital security accesses and database listings
  • Prepares hardcopy files for further processing by 3rd party including database entry, tracking, and reporting activities
  • Ensures the data integrity of various forms of media by monitoring, marking, & classifying
  • Data entry, indexing, file conversions
  • Monitors technical library subscriptions and takes actions as needed to ensure currency.
  • Liaise with Team leaders and QCs to ensure the necessary technical data is readily available and controlled.
  • Serves as Primary DER for the site’s Drug & Alcohol Program (responsible for Randoms process, ordering materials/tests, and tracking training, back-up Primary for Primary’s responsibilities)
  • Makes recommendations to management to ensure and improve compliance.
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications/Experience Needed

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required
  • Knowledge and experience in spreadsheets and/or data visualization
  • Experience in Microsoft office
  • Knowledge and experience with Technical Data control for a Repair Station
  • Working knowledge of technical publication practices, policies, and procedures

  • Quality experience in a manufacturing/maintenance environment
