The Role

The Advanced Vehicle Engineering Centre (AVEC) at Cranfield University has built an enviable track record focused on low carbon vehicle engineering for on-road and off-road vehicles. This post represents a unique opportunity to join this dynamic team and help lead the development of Automotive teaching and research within the Centre. This role will support the continued development of the Automotive MSc course and associated research activity with a particular focus on Automotive Engineering design principles including overall vehicle system design, target setting, benchmarking, and system integration, including system level optimisation. As well as developing research proposals in this area to support our commercial clients and public funding opportunities, the job holder will be expected to lead the Automotive Engineering MSc as Course Director and develop the course to embrace the new technologies and approaches required by the sector. The job holder will also be expected to contribute to academic research output, and promotion of the Centre.

About You

You will be educated to doctoral level in Automotive Engineering or equivalent significant industrial experience. With experience of Automotive design integration including the major components of powertrain, chassis, braking, HVAC etc. you will also require experience of project management, bid writing and journal paper production.

Higher Education Mechanical Engineering Lecturer (Fixed Term – Until 31st July 2024) (100%) (UCNL & UCDon)

Salary: £27,753 – £36,189 (Grade 5) per annum, pro rata

Post No:

Working within the University Campus North Lincolnshire (UCNL) and University Campus Doncaster (UCDon), the post holder will assume responsibility for teaching and the provision of personal academic support to students across the Engineering suite of programmes. The role will involve working collaboratively across UCNL/UCDon to develop innovative and creative approaches towards learning and teaching and new opportunities.

The role will involve working within a small team, liaison with external examiners and implementing quality assurance processes to ensure the policies and procedures of UCNL/UCDon are effectively adhered to.

A high degree of flexibility and adaptability is required to perform effectively in the role.

As part of the recruitment process and in-line with keeping children safe in education we will conduct social media checks on candidates that are shortlisted.
