Role Details:
Position: Social Worker – Learning Disabilities service
Pay Rate: £32.16

About the Role:

  • You will work to the Adult Social Care operational principles in order to provide high quality and effective social work support, delivering excellent strengths based assessments, interventions, care planning, as appropriate. You will provide back up for our First Contact (duty) service and support and advice to all people making initial contact with the service, or in urgent situations when allocated workers are not available.
  • You will manage a cases load of varying complexity. You will need to organise work activities taking into account the need to prioritize tasks and responsibilities, ensuring statutory responsibilities are undertaken
  • You will undertake interviews, Mental Capacity Act assessments, observations and gather information from adults with learning disabilities, informal networks and other agencies to analyse, summarise and evaluate the information to provide a holistic assessment of needs, balancing risk and protective factors. You will undertake risk assessments of customers and developing positive risk management strategies as appropriate, including protection plans for those who require them.
  • You will monitor and review support plans at regular intervals involving all stakeholders and ensuring the person with a learning disability is at the centre of the process. You will be providing advice and guidance to those making contact and managing new referrals coming in the service, together with our dedicated Access and Support Officer..

About role:
The London Borough of Bromley, Adult Learning Disability team are looking for a Social Worker to join our friendly but hard-working team. The role comprises of care management work such as completing strength-based care act assessments, MCA’s, occasional management of duty, annual statutory reviews, CHC, COP work Safeguarding and longer-term case work.
The Learning Disability team provides care management and safeguarding support under the Care Act 2014 to people over the age of 18 who are in need of community care services. These include services for people with LD and or Autism and people who provide unpaid care to friends or family.

We are looking for an organized and dynamic Machine Learning Scientists, to support the Ocean, Coastal and River Engineering Research Centre at its Ottawa location. The selected candidate would be someone who shares our core values Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

NRC’s GOCF Research Centre supports a broad cross-section of industry sectors by developing creative and practical solutions to applied engineering challenges in rivers, coastal, ships and marine environments. We provide expertise and tools to identify, adapt, and integrate advanced solutions into systems that improve the performance and safety of ocean, coastal, shipping and marine operations, management and effective utilization of inland water resources, address the challenges of climate change, and protect infrastructure, property and people from risks of severe weather and climate events. Using numerical modelling tools, machine learning, field investigations, and world-class model test facilities (including two ice tanks – of which one is the longest in the world – five wave basins and three flumes), we are creating safe, efficient and sustainable solutions to engineering challenges.

GOCF has a strategy that revolves around using data science & AI in all aspects of its research. We are looking for a passionate data scientist / machine learning expert with appropriate domain expertise, who can apply the latest research and algorithms to help solve our problems and produce novel, high-quality research. As a member of the “Data Science & AI” team, you will use and evaluate machine learning models using a variety of large data sets (e.g., in-situ environmental conditions, satellite imagery, ship data, model scale data, numerical data), state-of-the-art computing facilities (multi-GPUs), and cloud services, to apply to various projects that are strategic to GOCF, including (but not limited to) coastal monitoring, ship performance, target detection from underwater cameras and remote sensing, autonomous ships, weather routing, human factors, and many others.

The primary responsibility of the Machine Learning Engineer will be to advance and maximize the impact of GOCF Research Centre’s research nationally and internationally through developing new models, technologies, advanced data analysis techniques, and decision support tools. As a subject matter expert, the Machine Learning Engineer will work on a variety of multidisciplinary projects to leverage the latest state-of-the-arts computer vision, machine learning and data analytics methods to support our Research Centre’s R&D objectives.

The Machine Learning Engineer is also expected to actively participate in the development of project proposals, execute project management plans, disseminate research outcomes and deliver superior technical services. Additionally, there will also be opportunities to explore independent research interests, participate in postdoctoral mentoring and development programs, and access ideation funds offered by the NRC.

Screening Criteria

Master’s degree with relevant research experience or Ph.D. . in a discipline of engineering such as Civil, Computer, Environmental, or Water Resources/Hydrologic Engineering, or in Ocean and Naval Architecture, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.

The ideal candidate would possess the skills required to determine and use the appropriate machine learning and data analytical methods specific to the problems at hand, and would also possess domain expertise relevant to NRC-OCRE.

  • Significant* Experience using current state-of-the art in machine learning, including DNNs, CNNs, RNNs, and other frequently used methods in the field of computer vision, classification, regression and predictive modelling.

Compensation

This position is classified as a Research Officer (RO), a group that is unique to the NRC. Candidates are remunerated based on their expertise, outcomes and impacts of their previous work experience relative to the requirements of the level. The salary scale for this group is vast, from $57,220 to $161,754 per annum, which permits for employees of all levels from new graduates to world renowned experts to be fairly compensated for their contributions.

The Search E-Commerce team is responsible for the search algorithm for TikTok’s rapidly growing global e-commerce business.   • Improve the basic search quality and user experience: Optimize query analysis and text relevance matching. Understand e-commerce video content and implement multi-modal matching. Comprehensively improve the end-to-end shopping experience from browsing to after-sales.
  • Design and implement the end-to-end ranking system (recall, first stage ranking, final stage ranking and mixed row): Use massive behavioral data to deeply model users’ personalized shopping interests. Job Summary:

The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Director will provide leadership and technical guidance to the program team on all monitoring, evaluation, and learning-related issues. Under the direction of the Chief of Party and in close collaboration with the technical leads, the MEL Director will be responsible for the design, implementation and quality of all monitoring, evaluation, and learning components of the project. This includes leading and supervising the activity learning agenda, data management systems, data quality, data dissemination and use as well as any technical assistance and capacity development of program staff and health system staff with the aim to improve quality of routine and programmatic data. They will provide strategic direction for a robust learning agenda for continuous learning, collaboration, and adaptation during the life of the project. They will serve as the primary point of contact for establishing and managing an evaluation and monitoring system responsive to USAID reporting and learning requirements. The position will be based in Abuja and will report to the Chief of Party. Recruitment is contingent upon successful award of the project and the selection of final applicant is subject to USAID approval.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of the project’s monitoring and reporting activities across multiple states in Nigeria, including development of the project’s results framework and Performance Monitoring Plan; development and monitoring of project indicators; oversight of routine data collection and data management; data quality assessments (DQA); synthesis and analyses of data and presentation of project lessons and results; and reporting, both internally and externally as required/needed.
  • Lead the design and implementation of the project’s evaluation activities (as applicable), including periodic reviews, performance evaluations (baseline, midline, endline), outcome and impact evaluations.
  • Guide and maintain relevant protocols, SOPs, instruments, data sets, manuals, training materials and reports pertaining to monitoring, evaluation, and learning; ensure that these all adhere to FHI 360 and international policies and standards; and ensure that they remain technically and ethically sound.
  • Oversee a team of MEL staff for the project and ensure clear roles and responsibilities and lines of communication are maintained amongst the team members. This includes conducting performance management and professional development of direct reports and of the entire MEL team, i.e., provision of constructive feedback, ongoing coaching, and career support, as needed and appropriate. Foster teamwork and collaboration within the MEL team and across project teams.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of strategies for capacity strengthening (as needed) of staff, implementing partners, government counterparts, and other stakeholders in MEL systems/tools, data management, health informatics, data analysis and use for program planning and improvements, and other priority areas/skills.
  • Ensure the quality and timely preparation and submission of workplans, data sets, progress reports, and papers summarizing project results and evidence, and other deliverables, as required. This includes ensuring effective data analysis/interpretation and data use to inform management decision-making, support quality improvement efforts, and contribute to broader learning.
  • Ensure the quality of data collected to measure project performance and results, through proper ongoing data management, SOPs for data flow and Quality Assurance, periodic Data Quality Audits (DQAs), and adequate orientation/training of staff, partners, and beneficiaries at all levels of the project.
  • Champion project learning across project, sub-partner and MOH partners. Find and implement innovative ways to encourage collaborative learning.
