Job Overview

Under general supervision, this position provides accurate interpretation for patient/families who have Limited English Proficiency (LEP). May be required to translate written documents from English into the target language or from the target language into English. Acts as culture broker to identify when cultural differences are leading to a misunderstanding on the part of either the provider or patient. Language services are performed in designated areas according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital. Works cooperatively within department and other services to create a system of quality health care.

2. Medical Interpreter Certification from an accredited college or university

3. One (1) year of relevant interpreting experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Overview

Due to demand within the team, the Speech and Language Therapy service has a temporary vacancy for a Band 6 post for a Speech & Language Therapist to work as part of the Adult team. This is for 37.5 hours. The main staff base is a NHS facility in the region.

The successful candidate should be experienced in speech and language therapy for the adult population and will ideally need to be dysphagia-trained. The post covers acute sessions currently but may also cover community sessions in the future.

The Speech and Language Therapy Adult Team is a small but motivated team of enthusiastic clinicians and assistants. It is supported clerically and committed to CPD and training. The department has an excellent record for considering new ways of working.

Duties

Clinical:

  • To provide assessment, diagnoses, treatment and management to patients as appropriate and exercising appropriate clinical judgement. This may include group therapy in conjunction with other therapists and domiciliary visits / visits to other settings as necessary.
  • To produce reports regarding patients’ needs and summarising treatment plans.
  • To adapt practice to meet individual patients’ circumstances, including due regard to cultural and linguistic differences.
  • To ensure that patients and carers are involved in the planning and prioritisation of care plans / treatment programs wherever possible.
  • To liaise with other professionals in Health, Education and Social Care.
  • To liaise with other departmental staff and seek advice / second opinions when necessary from colleagues within and outside the department.
  • To follow departmental policies regarding admission to and discharge from the service.

Administrative:

  • To supply reports and correspondence as required to a variety of other professionals and to the patient themselves.
  • To maintain explicit and accurate case notes, including a detailed case history and all reports /correspondence concerning the patient.
  • To provide statistical information as required including input to the Community Patient Information System.
  • To participate in annual Performance Development Reviews and complete the necessary paperwork.
  • To engage in departmental clinical supervision and complete the necessary paperwork.
  • To offer a regular quota of initial appointments as determined by the Team Leader

Clinical Governance:

You will be required to be fully available to work during RBC’s retail branch hours of operation, including extended hours Monday through Saturday until 8:00 PM and Sunday as applicable. As the first point of contact at RBC retail banking locations, Client Advisor Interns are responsible for assisting members of our community who walk into our branches. Using hospitality-like skills they proactively welcome and engage clients, meet their everyday banking needs, resolve client concerns at first point of contact and uncover opportunities to provide additional client centric advice and solutions to meet their individual need.

What will you do?

  • Maintain an engaging on-the-floor presence in our retail locations, ensuring every client is proactively greeted and engaged upon entry
  • Actively listen to uncover the reason for their visit, taking ownership of client needs and resolving concerns at first point of contact
  • Assist clients to fulfill their immediate everyday banking needs, both personal and business, using RBC’s systems and best in class digital platforms, while respecting client preferences
  • Engage in discovery conversations to understand client needs, provide client-centric advice and personally fulfill on the appropriate simple advice, solutions and service
  • Contribute to a culture of collective team success by uncovering opportunities to provide warm introductions to RBC Partners to fulfil on more complex client needs
  • Champion digital enablement by proactively educating our clients to self-serve, while leading with advice, serving through digital where possible
  • Manage risks by adhering to compliance routines, processes, and controls to protect client and shareholder interests while completing transactions

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of the Professions (OP) is seeking candidates for the position of Executive Secretary for the State Boards for Psychology, Speech Language Pathology & Audiology and Dietetics/Nutrition. Under the direct supervision of the Executive Coordinator of Professional Practice, the incumbent of this position will lead, liaise, and coordinate tasks for a broad range of activities related to five professions and registration of institutes chartered by the Board of Regents to offer training in psychotherapy. The incumbent will manage the board office staff and will be a key policy advisor to the Deputy Commissioner. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide assistance to the Board of Regents through the New York State Education Department by developing requirements for licensure, reviewing and evaluating applications for licensure, assessing professional practice issues, convening disciplinary panels, providing technical assistance to legislative staff, preparing bill comments, assisting in the development of departmental bills, and other matters regarding professional regulation;
  • Confer with OP management staff as well as with State and national associations and others on matters related to practice, professional training, licensure, and other related matters;
  • Collaborate with Professional Education to assure that the academic requirements are met, including petitions for a Regents charter, master plan amendments and registration of New York programs, as well as standards for evaluation of out of-state applicants;
  • Interview and recommend prospective Board members to the Department and the Board of Regents;
  • Provide support for the State Boards to identify issues of importance and intervene at an early stage, to assist in formulating, implementing and evaluating policies, and to develop and prepare State Board agendas, minutes, and reports;
  • Participate in various internal and external activities relating to professional training, licensure, or practice;
  • Prepare responses to numerous requests from the field, including licensees, employers and other agencies, for information regarding licensure or practice;
  • Work collaboratively with OP staff to develop application materials, consumer information, plain language information for licensees, and materials for the OP website; and
  • Serve as a member of OP’s leadership team, taking on additional or other management responsibilities as assigned.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is in the exempt class and the incumbent will serve at the discretion of the Commissioner of Education. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of Psychologist licensure will be required at the time of interview for all candidates. This position will require 10% in-state travel. Filling of this position is contingent upon Division of the Budget approval.
