PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Primary Duties:

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree or higher required

· 7-10 years of interpreting, preferably medical interpreting may be substituted for the degree requirement.

· 5-7 years interpreting, preferably medical interpreting required.

· American Sign Language Certification – ASLCERT (with the registry of interpreters for the deaf (RID)) required.

· Other state and ASL certifications may be considered.

May be required to translate written documents from English into the target language or from the target language into English. Acts as culture broker to identify when cultural differences are leading to a misunderstanding on the part of either the provider or patient.   • Valid Certificate/Credential in School American Sign Language ASL or in process in the state of practice
