S&ME is currently seeking a full-time Industrial Hygienist/Lead Inspector to join our Environmental teams in either Raleigh, Charlotte, or Greensboro, North Carolina offices.

What You Will Do:

As an Industrial Hygienist/Lead Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of workers and the community by identifying and mitigating potential hazards in various settings. You will perform field and office work associated with industrial hygiene, under the supervision of other experienced EHS professionals, as needed, based on experience level.

• Perform hazardous materials building and indoor air quality assessments
• Conduct investigations of working conditions in places of employment for the prevention of occupational disease and industrial health hazards from toxic substances, noise, and harmful physical agents.
• Participate in special studies and monitoring programs to determine environmental conditions as well as collect samples to evaluate employee exposure to toxic substances.
• Analyze and interpret data, preparation of tables, and maintenance of equipment.
• Collaborate with project teams and clients to provide technical expertise and recommendations for risk mitigation.
• Prepare detailed reports documenting findings, assessments and recommendations.
• Read building plans and prepare technical specifications for remediation of hazardous materials based upon the scheduled renovation/demolition with a working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulatory requirements.
• Field Sampling Services to support environmental assessment activities, as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, safety, engineering, or related sciences
• Minimum of 2 years experience with industrial hygiene, safety, or environmental field testing
• Ability and willingness to accommodate periodic travel with overnight assignments
• Ability and willingness to work outside of normal business hours, when necessary
• NC Lead Inspector Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• NC Lead Risk Assessor Certification
• NC Asbestos Air Monitoring Accreditation
• NC Asbestos Inspector Accreditation
• Mold and IAQ sampling experience
• Experience with Industrial Hygiene employee exposure monitoring

Confers with individual attorneys who sometimes have knowledge of timely rulings on state statutes. Attends to complaints from citizens whose lives and businesses are often impacted by individuals who choose not to adhere to the Atlanta City Code, via telephone or site visit. Testifies in court to address violators of Atlanta’s City Ordinance, usually through subpoena. Represents City’s and APD’s interests. Prepares best available presentation. Reporting to the Construction Services Manager, this role will work in Community Power to support the delivery of our construction and housing service offerings. This role will work alongside a small operations team to deliver benefits to our clients that improves homes and adds capacity to manage their housing projects. QUALIFICATIONS

• A thorough understanding of cold climate residential construction methods and best practices is required for this role.
• Degree, certificate, diploma or other formal training in Construction Management or building trade is required.

• 2-5 years of direct experience in residential construction or construction management is required.
• Experience using MS Word and Excel and the ability to learn a variety of new software is required.
• Experience with client management and customer service is an asset.
• Having Red Seal, Building Inspector or Project Management certification is an asset.

About Our Job

Performs skilled work in the new construction, remodeling and repair maintenance of county parks and facilities. Perform the daily maintenance and occasional repairs on pools. Perform playground inspections and complete corrective repairs. Complete inspections and minor repairs on Sky Logix, Mag lock and Lighting systems. It also includes restroom cleaning, picking up trash, policing grounds, pressure cleaning, boardwalk inspections, playground mulch spreading, assisting the Sheriff’s Office Work Program, and an assortment of various tasks.

Job Description:

Responding to work orders for repairs in county parks, involving carpentry, painting, concrete work, irrigation. Assisting other staff in routine or corrective maintenance projects. Perform scheduled playground inspections.

Responsible for managing materials, multiple work orders, purchasing cards, and maintaining county equipment. Evaluate and communicate potential issues. (locates, calendar conflicts, permitting, other related issues).

Paperwork creation and completion (work orders, inspection reports, invoices, p-card receipts).

Work Hours: 40 Hours Per Week – 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

About You

Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of experience, education, training or any combination of experience in park maintenance. A valid Driver’s License is required. Within one-year, incumbent must obtain National Recreation Parks Association (NRPA) playground certification.

Job Competencies: Knowledge of minor construction, shop fabrication, painting, power tools, “handyman” skills and environmental stewardship.

Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Pay: $16.76 (Step 1)
