We are looking for social workers to work in a team which assesses and supervises both mainstream and connected placements so you will have good assessment skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with our foster carers for Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.

Based at Chelmunds Place in Chelmsley Wood, Solihulls Fostering Team provides high quality placements for children within the borough. We are responsible for the recruitment, assessment and supervision of both connected and non-connected foster carers. We also hold responsibility for assessing special guardians and private fostering arrangements.

We are keen to find skilled and enthusiastic Social Workers who can work within a supportive and committed social work team. We are dedicated to supporting our young people through quality placements and welcome applicants who understand and act as a good corporate parent.
As a Social worker in Solihull, you will be working directly with carers for young people and helping them to support children to develop the life skills and confidence to live a full and active life and help them to reach their full potential.

Workers are expected to be in the office 2 days per week minimum and are required to be office based when covering duty (approx. 2 days every few months)

A worker just completing assessments will have approx. 3 to 4 assessments at any one time-we would aim to stagger these assessments so they do not all approach panel at the same time. A supervising social worker would usually have approx 16 carers, some workers have a mix of assessments and supervision and these caseloads are calculated proportionally (e.g 8-10 supervisions, 2 assessments)

Essential Requirements:

• Social Work Qualification – Degree or equivalent
• At least 2 years’ experience as a social worker within children’s services
• Social Work England Registration.
• Driving license and access to own vehicle.

Fixed Term upto 2 years due to funding

A new and very exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic worker has become available within our General Fostering and Placements Team in Bridgend. The role will involve working with Placements Officers and Social Workers to identify and match care experienced children to the placement that best support their needs. This will include providing dedicated support to the fostering duty service and collating data to assist the team to develop our foster carer recruitment. The role will include supporting social workers to ensure referrals for placements searches are of the highest quality and approaching carers and providers for placements for children.

We are a well established, friendly, knowledgeable and experienced team located in the centre of Bridgend. We are co-located with the Care Experienced and 16+ Social Work teams which enables collaborative working. The role will involve hybrid working arrangements but will require being office based on a regular basis.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about achieving the best outcomes for care experienced children, has knowledge and experience of working within childrens services and has excellent IT skills. We need a person in this role who understands the needs of children who have experienced trauma and loss and has first rate communication skills. If you have previous experience working with a placements and or fostering service this is desirable but not essential.

We provide a high standard of support to our staff team including regular supervision and access to quality training. We will provide you with a robust induction and the opportunity to contribute to developing the service to achieve excellence. This post offers the opportunity of working across all of childrens services and therefore a wide range of experience.
