POSITION: Assistant Professor of English: The Department of English invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The person appointed to this position will teach in the areas of American literatures and cultural studies. Academic speciality may be any period, but teaching duties may span longer periods. 1) An earned doctorate (Ph. D) in English or closely related discipline from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required. Applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, the doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment (8/19/2024).

3) Evidence of scholarly activity in the field of African American Literature.

Preferred Qualifications:

1) Evidence of successful teaching experience in African American Literature.

2) Evidence of commitment to community engagement and social justice.

Duties:

The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community. Role Purpose:

English Online is the British Council’s bespoke 100% online Adults English course that enables customers to learn online from anywhere in the world. The end to end customer experience aims to puts customers in control by offering a self-serve experience. This is supported by a central point of contact to provide information, resolve service requests and support the generation of new sales.

The Sales and Customer Experience Executive plays a key role in delivering an excellent customer experience, helping us learn more about our customers and in supporting commercial success. Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring rapid, high quality customer service and support for new and existing customers, primarily via email and webchat.

• Following standard operating protocols (SOPs) and delivering against service level agreements (SLAs) to resolve service cases appropriately.

• Occasionally act as a communication point for Teaching Centre Sales and Customer Services team that have sales or customer service enquiries for English Online

Role Specific Knowledge and Experience:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Highly desirable if they are bilingual
