About the Role

You will manage communication and visibility strategies that support our Nigeria program. You will build relationships with relevant partners in the public, private and non-profit sectors, including potential donors, to build networks and unlock opportunities for program growth in Nigeria. You will support in driving policy advocacy strategies leading to impact for farmers and de-risking our program.

This is a full-time job. You will report to the Government Relations and Partnerships lead based in Abuja.

Responsibilities

  • Communications Strategy Design & Implementation
  • You will develop a communications strategy for engaging with partners at different levels.
  • You will organize and coordinate brand building and networking events.
  • Produce communications materials to engage important contacts and keep them informed of our work, including quarterly reports, briefing notes, media engagements and official written correspondence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Support the scoping of partnerships and networks for the Nigerian program.
  • Create a database and dashboard of relevant stakeholders and partners in Nigeria.
  • Engage with partners in the public and private sector with a view to deepening and broadening. One Acre Fund’s networks at the state and federal level, as well as supporting our expansion efforts.
  • Policy Advocacy
  • Research policies, regulations, programs, and political developments relevant to field operations in Nigeria
  • Analyze policies and make recommendations to leadership to de-risk our operations.
  • Map and identify policy opportunities, gaps and risks at the state and federal levels and make recommendations to leadership

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media:

SEO Strategy:

  • Collaborate closely with the wider marketing team to develop and implement robust SEO strategies that drive targeted website traffic and enhance online visibility.
  • Conduct and implement thorough keyword research to identify the most relevant and impactful keywords to optimize engagement across our websites.
  • Improve the content and structure of our website through on-page optimization, to make it more user-friendly, relevant, and engaging for both search engines and users.
  • Help build the authority and reputation of our website through off-page optimization, and improve organic search rankings by implementing technical SEO enhancements.
  • Monitor search engine algorithms and industry trends, adjusting strategies to maintain maximum effectiveness and relevance.
  • Track, measure and report on the results of SEO strategies using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, etc. to evaluate the effectiveness in terms of traffic, rankings, conversions, revenue, etc., as well as identify areas for improvement or optimization.

PPC Campaign Management:

  • Plan and optimise PPC campaigns across platforms such as Google Ads, ensuring alignment with overall marketing objectives and targeted audience segments.
  • Conduct A/B testing and implement data-driven optimisations to maximize campaign performance and return on investment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure the PPC strategy is seamlessly integrated and aligns cohesively with broader organisational goals and initiatives.
  • Produce regular reports to showcase achievements and challenges of campaigns and help provide feedback, recommendations and suggestions for future actions.

Brand Management:

  • Ensure a strong and consistent brand presence across all communication channels.
  • Collaborate with design teams to create visually appealing and on-brand marketing collateral.
  • Monitor and enforce brand guidelines to maintain a unified brand identity across everything we do.
  • Review the brand message regularly to ensure consistency and come up with original ideas and formats to communicate and position the brand, our value proposition and offerings among our target audience, using the most impactful information and keywords.

Event Management:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute events to enhance brand visibility and engage target audiences.
  • Leverage your expertise across social media and SEO strategies to create and share engaging content, audience interaction, updates and performance analytics to effectively promote events and enhance audience experience.
  • Manage end-to-end logistics for events, including budgeting, vendor coordination, and on-site execution.
  • Evaluate the success of events through key performance indicators and feedback mechanisms, and use this to continue improving and proposing new ideas and strategies.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work across the group marketing team to set targets, forecast results, report activity, and measure performance; and to share learning, best practice, synergies, and opportunities.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand the overall business objectives and priorities and align this with marketing communication strategies.
  • Work closely with the ESG team to align and support ESG and Charity initiatives.
  • Collaborate with HR for internal campaigns, employee engagement and employer branding initiatives.
  • Collaborate with key experts across the business to support and enhance their personal branding and wider thought leadership through targeted social media initiatives.
  • Coordinate with external agencies for specialised communication needs and events.

Qualifications

Professional Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of proven experience working in Marketing in B2B companies, including marketing communication and event coordination.
  • Proven experience in formulating effective social media strategies and executing successful campaigns
  • Strong understanding of SEO and PPC best practices, with a track record of optimising campaigns for increased engagement.
  • Experience in content generation.

Technical Skills

  • Working with Microsoft Office software and collaboration tools (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc.)
  • Expertise in social media channels and platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Hootsuite, Canva) and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
  • Working with management, planning, and reporting tools (as above + Planner / Monday.com, or similar, dashboards, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CRMs and marketing automation tools (e.g., HubSpot, SalesForce)
  • Working with webinar platforms (e.g. Streamyard / LinkedIn Live etc.)

About the role

This new Senior Change & Communications Specialist role in the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) People & Organisational Development (POD) team will be leading the BHF through technology enabled transformation, steering the direction, planning, managing, developing, and implementing the change and communication approach.

In this role you’ll have responsibility for the change management strategy, plans and approach across a major technology transformation programme for the BHF: Enterprise Foundations. You will develop the key communication messages and set out a clear communication approach to help to inform and inspire colleagues across the organisation.

You’ll be responsible for the end-to-end life cycle of change, ensuring that technology change and communications happen with people in mind. You’ll create and implement change management plans and interventions that help to maximise employee engagement and support changes to ways of working. You will also shape and deliver changes to business processes, ways of working and operating models to support the changes to technology systems.

You’ll be accountable for measuring the success of these changes, ensuring alignment of short-and long-term outcomes and measurable benefits realisation.

This role will work with the Programme Director & Manager, Head of Organisational Change and the Head of Internal Communications and the team to support our Technology strategy and the delivery of the BHFs strategy to 2030 – a key aspect of which is ensuring the formation and delivery of our Enterprise roadmap.

Working arrangements

Please note this is a 12-18 month fixed term contract.

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

At the BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average. About you

As our ideal candidate you will have knowledge and application of change models and principles, including project management experience to successfully lead technology change programmes that deliver processes and new ways of working.

With excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, you’ll be able to work across all levels of the organisation. You’ll have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including excellent presentation skills, as well as good facilitation skills with groups and one to one.

You’ll have a passion for solving complex business challenges with the ability to exercise judgement. Proactive with a positive can-do approach, you’ll be able to manage ambiguity and apply problem-solving skills along with the ability to employ research and analytical thinking.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • have experience of working with senior stakeholders & gaining buy-in on change plans and interventions
  • be able to identify the culture shift needed to support technology changes and translate that into interventions to deliver behaviour change
  • apply and develop behavioural change tools and frameworks to effectively engage
  • effectively engage and educate people on what to expect from the change process
  • define success measures of change programmes based on the desired outcomes of the change
  • identify change tools and interventions that will help the BHF measure and achieve change successfully

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Trenching, cable distribution, housing installation, assembly of signal equipment, wiring of signal equipment, pole line work
  • Work with Track Renewal groups protecting the Signal & Communications (S&C) equipment
  • At times you are required to repair or replace damaged equipment
  • Moderate to heavy physical labour on an assigned area of track. This work involves:
  • Shoveling
  • Signal equipment installation
  • Install ground systems
  • Electrical connection of rail reporting the color of the signal
  • Climbing poles
  • Pole line repair
  • Walking on uneven ground
  • An emphasis on safety is critical for all employees. This can be a high risk environment as you will be working around heavy moving equipment
  • Employees must remain focused at all times and be willing to work in a team environment
  • The work location is outdoors and, therefore, you will be working in all weather conditions (rain, direct sunlight, snow etc.)
  • May be required to be away from home.

During this period, the employee will be classified as an S&C Helper at a rate of pay of $25.74 per hour. After completion of training, the employee may bid to a Signal Maintainer Apprentice position

After completion of the program you will become a Signal Maintainer; accountabilities include:

  • Test and verify the correct operation of Signal & Communications (S&C) systems and equipment on your assigned territory
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all S&C apparatus
  • Make inspections and tests as required on each device
  • Repair or replace defective devices
  • Investigate and locate problems or failures and take the proper corrective action
  • Plan own work and co-ordinate it with others
  • Ensure there is enough material on hand to permit work or repairs to be completed without undue delay
  • Install apparatus in accordance with prepared circuit drawings and standards
  • Make authorized corrections and modifications to circuits and enter the changes on plans
  • Prepare and submit reports, time sheets and handle general correspondence
  • This position is on call to protect failures in the off hours

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school or a General Equivalency Diploma is required
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • Education or experience in Electronics/Electrical is considered an asset
  • Commercial Vehicle and/or air brake license (DZ) is considered an asset
  • A safety-oriented work ethic supported by experience within the labour industry
  • The ability to follow instructions, rules and regulations is essential written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work as a valuable member of a team, and must be comfortable working alone
  • Good written and verbal communication/comprehension skills are essential
  • Position requires frequent travel in and out of province
  • Must have ability to relocate within District 3
