About the role:

Join the Client Operations Team as a Bilingual Senior Officer, Multi-Unit Claims. In this role, you will assess and process the settlement of insurance claims that result from the default of multiple unit (5 or more) residential projects in difficulty of varying sizes and complexity. You will also serve as the expert in assessing the administration of the mortgage insurance contract between CMHC and Approved Lenders; claims are often complicated in nature.

What You’ll Do:

  • Negotiate with and provide direction to Approved Lenders for contentious issues, including claim adjustments, legal actions, and settlements in lieu of judgment.
  • Take a service-oriented approach to anticipate and respond to the needs of the Approved Lender clients by providing interpretation and advice on policies and procedures, products, services and systems related to claims for Multi-Unit residential properties.
  • Document, in a clear and logical method, all observations, decisions and recommendations made with respect to the adjudication of the claim while ensuring compliance with all relevant internal policies and procedures.
  • Use effective oral and written communication techniques to confirm understanding of issues and to prepare and present accurate and timely explanations of our corporate position.
  • Consult and seek advice from other specialists as required, including Legal Services, Financial Services, National Recoveries Centre, Default Management and Real Estate Centres.
  • Provide financial risk recommendations and present mitigation options.

What you should have :

Responsibilities:

  • Examine liability claims.

Education, Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • College diploma or combination of education and equivalent business
  • CIP designation an asset

Role Summary

Provide immediate and customer-focused assistance to policyholders who are calling to report insurance claims. Document initial loss details and activities to ensure that callers experience timely and service oriented disposition of calls. Make determination based on protocol if immediate adjuster attention is required and coordinate with vendors as required.

  • Please note that this position requires shift work on a seven (7) day rotating basis between the hours of 12AM to 8AM
  • Training will take place between 4pm to 12am.

*Only candidates fully bilingual in French and English will be considered
*This is a full-time opportunity, and will require 37.5 hours of work per week.

  • In order to work remotely, you will require High Speed Internet. (Download and Upload speed must both be at a minimum of 50 mbps)

** Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed the following Insurance Institute courses – Essentials of Loss Adjusting (C110), Automobile (C14), Property (C12) and Principles and Practices (C11) **

** Training will be in office, however, you can continue to work shifts remotely in your home once trained**

  • Review ECS call report and ensure call has terminated properly and forward accurate and complete call reports as required.
  • Provide personalized customer service of the highest level
  • Arrange for the dispatch of adjusters or vendor partners when required
  • Field and answer branch inquiries and administer to ECS menu
  • Maintain data base of service lapses reference for root cause, report trends and make recommendations to management
  • Review claim information to determine proper next steps for processing against client guidelines/ service agreements

Education, knowledge and experience required

  • Post secondary education
  • Minimum 1 year administrative experience
  • Knowledge of insurance/service industry or related experience preferred
  • Strong computer and telephone skills with an aptitude/ability to learn
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal in English and French
  • Attention to detail
