Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, you will analyze and underwrite new and renewal business, regularly interacting and facing the market, under limited supervision, utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels on assignments of moderate technical complexity ensuring a high-level of service to customers.

  • Use strong analytical skills to manage and develop a in accordance with Zurich guidelines.
  • Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.

  • Take a solution-oriented approach to foster, develop and maintain a strong network of relationships with our Broker partners and our Customers.
  • Cross-selling other lines of business to increase product density for most comprehensive Zurich solution.

Job Qualifications – What you bring to the table

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.

OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area

OR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area

OR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area

AND

  • Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines
  • Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

Preferred:

  • Bachelors’ Degree with 6 or more years’ experience in the commercial P&C underwriting area
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • French language skills are required (for candidates applying to the Montreal office location)
  • Verbal and written proficiency in the English language is required in order to facilitate communication with internal and external key stakeholders located outside of Quebec. (for candidates applying to the Montreal office location)

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The salary range provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. Compensation may exceed the range listed based on the evaluation of skillset and experience. The starting salary range for this position is $58,700 to $117,400.

Tetra Tech Canada Inc. is seeking individuals who are excited about waste diversion and reduction! We are looking for Waste Sorters to help characterize garbage from households and/or commercial properties across British Columbia and Alberta. Waste Sorters will assist with collecting samples from various sources and sorting waste samples into identified categories. The categories are individually weighed and recorded. An orientation session and health and safety training will be provided.

This is a short-term (temporary) hourly position requiring about 40 hours of work per week from August 2023 to December 2023 (Monday through Friday with potential of Saturday work). These are tentative dates and may incur minor adjustments. Sorters will be paid $22/hr for the work, including training that will take place a week prior to the sorting dates.

If you have not done a waste composition study before, please review this to get a sense of the work involved.

Some of the Responsibilities you may have:

  • Physically collecting and sorting through selected waste samples into several individual categories
  • Sample weighing, data entry, recording observations, and taking photographs
  • Work outside in varied weather conditions, with the ability to stand, lift, bend, and twist for long periods of time

Qualifications that would make you a great candidate:

  • Own CSA Green Triangle certified steel-toed boots (minimum 6” ankle height) or be able to acquire them before your first day; other personal protective equipment will be provided (e.g., mask, high vis vest, and safety glasses)
  • Experience doing physical labor in variable weather conditions and able to perform regular lifting safely (up to a maximum of 20 kg) over the course of a workday
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, practicing safe work methods
  • Excellent attention to detail, and ability to work accurately and quickly to meet deadlines
  • Be punctual and able to start work early in the morning (8 a.m.)
  • Willingness to work independently and in a team environment
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada

Optional Experience/Qualifications:

  • Alberta Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent.
  • Experience with waste composition studies and audits, environmental data collection and/or other types of solid waste management work.

About the Inkompass Field Sales

Commercial

Field Sales

Who we’re looking for?

Students in their first to last year of studies, in relevant fields, including, but not limited to, business, marketing, and management.

The Adjuster actively adjusts claims while ensuring that business development opportunities are maximized. This involves marketing and follow-up of opportunities in a timely manner. The profile duties create a dynamic portfolio requiring extremely well-honed organizational skills that enable day to day activities to be completed while allowing efficient and effective progress of file management activities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree or post-secondary education related to insurance
  • Minimum of 2 year’s experience.
  • Equivalency in combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Ongoing commitment to education and learning.
  • Effective analytical skills, including identification of cause and effect dynamics
  • Good investigative manner
  • Able to draw valid conclusions and effectively communicate them.
  • Ability to interpret complex documents of a legal nature, perform and understand advanced numerical calculations including analysis of comparative information.
  • Adjuster’s license, or currently pursuing or have completed the CIP designation
  • Advanced communication skills including:
  • Effective written skills including those of a technical nature
  • Effective oral skills, including listening, interviewing, negotiating, must be able to flex style appropriate to audience.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage conflicting priorities in an effective manner.
  • Proactive and positive approach to customer service ensuring that all inquiries are effectively dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills allowing you to effectively deal with conflict and difficult situations.
  • Strong commitment to ongoing education and learning.
