We are looking for Experienced Protection and Automation Proposals Application Engineer. This position will be based at Wendell, NC.

Role Description:

• This position is for an Application Engineer that will be responsible for Protection and Automation offers for the United States Market.
• The PA Application Engineer will play a significant role in business generation of Protection and Automation by preparing comprehensive technical and commercial proposals and solutions that best fits our customer needs, while ensuring competitive pricing.
• The PA application engineer will work closely with Internal stakeholders and Siemens Sales in the USA to ensure timely offer preparation and support to customers in the industrial, construction and utility markets on technical, contractual, and commercial issues.
• Provides leadership in the segment management.
• Reviews and assign Request for Proposals and monitors proposal activity.
• Ensure productivity to meet the offers team objectives and close orders.
• The Application Engineer should be well versed in regional markets and product requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
• 5+ year engineering experience in an EPC, engineering, manufacturing, utility, or industrial corporate environment.
• Knowledge and experience with the application of electrical distribution products and power systems/ power delivery.
• Experience evaluating relay P&C schemes, schematics, communication network diagrams.
• Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for power distribution applications. IEC standards knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to analyze customer’s technical specifications, drawings, and datasheets to interpret and apply appropriate Siemens or 3rd party product offerings to meet the customers’ expectations in cost-effective and timely manner, offer alternative solutions to optimize profitability while meeting customer needs.
• Excellent collaboration skills in a team environment, and demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks while maintaining excellent customer service.
• Excellent communications skills to effectively and accurately communicate with internal and external customers.
• Basic financial knowledge to understand and participate in ongoing business planning and support the product as well as project lifecycle management processes.
• Ability to identify market trends and using this information, work closely with Marketing and Technology to create and justify projects to close the identified gaps.
• Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office tools and product configuration/pricing applications.
• Self-starting and autonomous with time management and prioritization ability.
• Experience with commercial terms and contract negotiations.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship. Exceptions are:

Le candidat doit comprendre le processus CHT (conjugate heat transfer) à partir du CAD jusqu’à la résolution. Le candidat sera exposé à la prédiction thermique des aubes de turbine avec le processus CHT. Le but de ce projet est d’améliorer la productivité de l’analyse du transfert de chaleur conjugué (CHT). L’objectif de ce projet sera de développer un outil de post-traitement pour l’analyse CHT. Actuellement, les analystes consacrent beaucoup de temps au post-traitement de tous les résultats du CHT. La standardisation et l’automatisation du post-traitement réduiraient considérablement la durée du processus. Un outil existe actuellement pour automatiser le processus de post-traitement. Le candidat continuera à développer les fonctionnalités de cet outil. Le candidat bénéficiera d’une bonne exposition à l’analyse thermique haute fidélité des aubes refroidies ainsi qu’une bonne exposition au développement des outils d’automation.

Our expectations:

The candidate is expected to understand the CHT process from CAD to Solver. The candidate will be exposed to the thermal prediction of the blades using CHT process. The intent of this project is to improve the productivity of the conjugate heat transfer (CHT) analysis. The focus of this project will be to address the post processing of the CHT Analysis. Currently, analysts spend a significant amount of time in post processing of all the CHT results. Standardizing the post processing and automating would reduce the time significantly. A tool currently exists to automate the post-processing process. The candidate will continue to build and expand the tools functionality. The candidate will benefit from good exposure to the high fidelity thermal analysis of cooled blades as well as good exposure to developing quick turnaround tools.

What your day to day will look like:

Develop a good understanding of what is involved in the CHT process.

Programming in Matlab to develop tool features

Interact with supervisor and supporting team members for guidance

Provide weekly reports to supervisor

Prepare presentations of progress and milestones

What you need to be successful:

Must haves:

Be eligible to work in Canada

Be enrolled in a Canadian university throughout your internship

Be able to work on-site in the province where you are hired if applicable

Strong programming skills

Pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace engineering

Advanced English proficiency required (written and spoken)

Assets:

Good communicator

Strong presentation skills
