Systems Engineer (early career), Assured Position Navigation and Timing (APNT)
Location: Harlow, Essex
Summary of Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate with a STEM degree to work as an Engineer within the Assured Position Navigation and Timing (APNT) Systems team, part of the wider Weapons and Sensors business unit at Harlow in Essex.
The role is to provide support across Raytheon’s range of products, providing Systems Engineering expertise across the product lifecycle, from requirements capture, Analysis, Design through to testing and qualification activities.
Training in all areas of Systems Engineering will be made available to the successful candidate. This includes :- Requirements management, Systems Modelling using SysML ,UML, MATLAB, LabVIEW and other test tools.
Main Duties:
The role will provide support to the System Design Authority and Systems Engineering Team Leaders with the development and management of project requirements, generation of technical documentation. Systems Analysis and Design work, modelling and the participation in technical design reviews. Further, supporting the Systems Team in Integration and Testing in the Laboratory and field testing when necessary.
The role will be based at Raytheon’s Harlow facility and you will have access to professional development opportunities and be part of the growing RTX team, where you will be required to undertake development studies and investigation activities involving product performance and interfacing with various internal Engineering stakeholders.
The role will involve working in a highly technical environment, supporting the team as well as working autonomously. Taking on complex challenges and producing a solution that follows company process in a timely manner is an essential part of the role. To succeed in this role you will be comfortable integrating into a large team to accomplish your goals.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential
Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Electronics) or similar
Ability to demonstrate critical thinking & decision-making skills.
Ability to demonstrate problem solving and innovation skills.
General electronics knowledge.
Knowledge of basic RF and Antenna principles.
Basic understanding of signal processing.
Driven individual with a desire to learn.
Attention to detail.
Desirable
Practical experience of integrating and/or testing electronic hardware in a laboratory environment.
Keen interest in electronic design, demonstrated through university projects and/or hobby experience.
Understanding of system and product design lifecycles.
Member/student member – of a professional institution such as IET, IMechE, INCOSE etc.
Experience of mathematical modelling using MATLAB or any other programming language.
