We are a general contracting firm that is looking for a Superintendent to join our team in Kern County. Seeking a Superintendent with at least 5 years of public works experience. If you have inspections, scheduling, digging, excavating and subcontractor management experience, we want to talk to you!
What You Will Be Doing
– In charge of all project-related personnel and machinery
– Manage the project’s labor, quality of work, and worker safety for our personnel
– Oversee our equipment maintained on a daily basis and safeguarding it against harm or loss
– Notify the general supervisor of any potentially harmful or faulty tools or automobiles
– Organize weekly safety meetings
– Liaise with the general superintendent on temporary power, water, phone, fence, restrooms, and office supplies; as well as personnel and equipment
– Organize the work schedule and quality of all suppliers, subcontractors, and prime contractors involved in the project
– Monitor the project’s safety precautions implemented by subcontractors and prime contractors
– Assist the project manager by keeping him or her updated on any modifications to the project’s blueprints, construction, timeline, or budget
– Discuss the scope of the bid packages with the project manager after reviewing them
– Examine submittals and shop plans
– When a PE is assigned to a project, collaborate with and oversee the work of the project engineer
– Establish and revise a schedule for construction
– Maintain current as-built drawings throughout the project and gathering subcontractor as-built drawings for compilation after the project is finished
– Work together with the administrative assistant to coordinate all project paperwork
– Arrange and lead progress meetings with the contractor and owner
– Draft requests for information, or RFIs, from owners, architects, engineers, etc. when data is required
accountable for ensuring that all authorized change orders are executed and finished
– Ensure that all objects (such as sidewalks, streets, off-site work, etc.) that call for encroachment permits are secured and inspected
– Verify that inspections are requested and approved as necessary
– Verify that the City, County, Fire, Planning, Public Works, Health, and other departments have approved the final inspections as needed
– Before beginning any excavation or digging on the job site or in the street, make sure that the USA (Underground Service Alert) has been alerted two days in advance. (The USA calls at any depth; there is no minimum)
– Consult with utility companies and work out a schedule, applications, services, and permits
– Arrange the punch list and final job walk with the owner, architect, and inspector
– You will be in charge of: Weekly time cards, daily journals, daily reports, and T & M (Time & Material) sheets for every project are all required, Weekly Safety Meeting Reports, creating a schedule for construction and make updates as needed, monthly pay request percentages, Field Work Directives (FWD) where required, and Requests for Information (RFIs) when necessary
