Summary of Senior Interior Designer Role An internationally established hospitality studio known for their passionate and purposeful large-scale designs is looking for a senior interior designer. This studio is based in central London and is composed of an exceptionally creative and collaborative team of designers. This role involves leadership, providing direction and support to design teams, and overseeing project delivery within agreed parameters.
Senior Interior Designer Job Description
- Contribute to conceptual design ideas and participate in brainstorming sessions with Directors and Associates
- Develop design ideas through freehand sketches and CAD drawings
- Produce and oversee the production of CAD drawings, details, specifications, and project-related documents
- Assist and advise Directors on strategic and operational planning
- Participate in the recruitment process, including interviewing, internal appraisals, and reviews
- Report project status at weekly meetings when assigned a lead role
- Assess projects for resources and programming in collaboration with the PMO for day-to-day management
- Arrange and chair weekly project meetings to discuss progress, targets, and deadlines
- Select materials, furniture, fixtures, and finishes, and meet with suppliers and manufacturers
- Travel as necessary for meetings, research, site visits, and inspections, maintaining project files and contributing to a Continued Personal Development (CPD) atmosphere
Skills Necessary for this Senior Interior Designer Role
- Effective in working with demanding clients and tight timeframes
- Solutions focused with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- In-depth knowledge of Solas/IMO regulations and codes of practice for all responsibilities
- Familiarity with Fire regulations for FF&E in commercial properties, particularly hotels and cruise ships
- Exceptional attention to detail and decision-making skills
- Leadership, mentoring, and team nurturing experience
- Proficient in resource/time management, overseeing multiple design projects from concept to deliver
- Expertise in the luxury marine sector, creative design concepts, technical awareness, and practical construction knowledge
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Interior Design
