
Senate has approved President Bola Tinubu’s proclamation of a state of emergency in Rivers State, days after the House of Representatives approved.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu suspended his deputy, Mrs Ngozi Odu and Governor Fubara after announcing a State of Emergency in Rivers State over the confusion happening at the State.
After proclaiming the state of emergency, some Nigerians dragged Bola Tinubu describing him as a terrible president.
However, the Senate has approved the proclamation which has granted President Tinubu the authority to enforce emergency measures while mandating a review of the situation at any time, but no later than six months.
Per the Constitution, the National Assembly has also imposed a joint committee of both chambers, to oversee the administration of affairs in Rivers State during the emergency period.
Senate has however disclosed that a committee with be set which will consist of eminent Nigerians who will provide solutions to the political crisis facing the country.
