Former President Muhammadu Buhari has asserted that Nigeria’s security and economy saw significant improvements during his eight-year tenure.
Speaking on Wednesday while receiving members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists at his residence in Daura, Katsina State, Buhari stated that he inherited economic difficulties and security challenges from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which governed for 16 years.
However, he maintained that his administration successfully tackled these issues, reducing terrorism and economic hardship. “Nigeria’s security and economy improved significantly under my administration compared to what we met in 2015. Things will continue to improve in Nigeria,” Buhari said.
The former President also acknowledged the complexities of governance, noting that only those in leadership truly understand the challenges involved.
In his remarks, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, praised Buhari’s efforts in combating terrorism, banditry, and other security threats. He also commended the former president’s dedication and service, which he believes contributed to maintaining Nigeria’s unity.
