<p> We are looking for a research assistant to join our lab on a 13 months contract fully funded by the BBSRC. The post-holder will perform experiments, develop assays and new reporter cell lines and assist other lab members to support our effort to decode the self-organising principles of human axial development.</p>
<p> This post is advertised as part-time (28 hours per week) and we are open to considering flexible working patterns.</p>
<p><b>The Opportunity:</b></p>
<p> The Blin lab is an interdisciplinary team of enthusiastic researchers located in a world-leading centre for regenerative medicine. Our lab recently established a tractable and standardised in vitro system that leverages human embryonic stem cells and microfabrication to mimic the early stages of human embryonic development. This system offers a unique opportunity to understand the cell fate decisions that define the specification of clinically relevant progenitor populations. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong interest in developmental biology and a will to work at the boundary between stem cell biology and engineering.</p>
<p> Your skills and attributes for success:</p>
<ul>
<li>Experience with cell culture techniques including transfecting and establishing new cell lines, including CRISPR-based genome engineering in hESC.</li>
<li>Experience in designing and conducting molecular biology experiments, i.e primer design, vector construction, DNA cloning, PCR and quantitative PCR, protein sample preparation and western blotting.</li>
<li>Evidence of meticulous record keeping and a rigorous attitude to research work.</li>
<li>Ability to work collaboratively with others and communicate effectively with colleagues</li>
<li>Willingness to learn and apply new technologies</li>
</ul>
